I've heard a nice minor tune for this well-loved Kipling poem, but I can't recall it offhand.
Can anyone provide a link?

Would it happen to be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIuJypFksSQ or something resembling that melody?

If you're thinking of the rendition by Bellamy, it's on YouTube. Here's a link to it should that be the one.

I know a tune for this song/poem, alas the only way I can share it is to sing it to someone!
I think in part it is related to these two versions, but is gentler, more 'folky' to my ear - and involves you in fhe story, brings it to life. It was sung solo, tho listeners could join in the chorus.

There are some other threads mentioning various tunes.

These seem to be the main ones

Thank you, good people, for posting your links.
I'm in the process of recording songs, stories, and recitations for my grandchildren.
Quite a few old favourites are on the list.

Cheers from Tasmania. Stay safe everyone...

That link will perhaps be of use to you. (Mainly Norfolk is a good site to bookmark, btw.)

My sister in Tasmania (Thalia Haven) may know this song. I can sing it to you, also.
