Anyone know what's going on with the site? I'm getting a message that their account was suspended, I sent them an email and it was undeliverable. I like their archive of tabs but I find their abc converter invaluable.

Thanks, guest, it looks like a very useful site but my main interest is turning abc's into pdf tablatures and it doesn't seem to have that feature.

there are three buttons at the top of the page to give you

pdf, png or midi

You mean mandolintab.net - but yes, I get that message about it being suspended too.

It had a weirdness a few years ago where a major email provider would block any outgoing message that linked to it. I never learned what happened with that.

Thanks for the info, guys. I guess I didn't make it clear in the OP that I'm looking to convert abc's to mandolin tablature as well as standard notation in pdf form which was one of the features of the converter at mandolintab.net. It appears that the two converter sites linked don't do tab.

If you can't find anything online, you could produce the mandolin tab using abcm2ps or something like easyabc that uses it. This is the format file used at mandolintab.net.

LFF, I revisited that site and still found no way to create tablature from abc's

The software to convert tunes in abc format into an image of the sheet music and midi files is freely available. The result is a site where the most difficult part of adding new tunes is transcribing the tune into abc format in the first place."

I'm able to convert abc's to midis and standard notation but found no capacity for making tabs. Maybe I'm missing something.

Stopped working for me too, gutted as it was such a great way for converting to Mando TAB as well as whistles errr and occorinas (had to look that one up).

You can use Musescore to create TAB from the score it will also create a score from an imported ABC file and if you really dig into it you can alter the tuning of the strings.

Would love to see Mandolintab.net back up and running though.

His name is Simon Becker. The converter started life as the folkinfo abc converter. Simon took over hosting the converter when I closed folkinfo, I think in 2012.

I beg your pardon, Gillymor, I'd missed the bit about mandolin tab. But Dogflower is right, you can use Musescore (freeware) to convert to mandolin tab (I've just done just that, though I used the midi file from the Montreal Session converter - my computer confuses abc music files and abc programming language files)

I don't think Max has ever wanted to host something like this.

In any case, I'm not sure that type of converter would be the right way to go now that (last time I looked) abcm2ps seems to have been dropped by Jeff and the JavaScript type converters now seem to be in favour and can produce dots as you go along.

But that depends on what you want, I suppose.

The mandolintab one can do a fair bit but also have a few requirements, ie. to run:

php - to run the web scripts
abcm2ps - abc to both postscript and svg
abc2abc - transpose
python - for the musicXML scripts
ghostscript - postscript to pdf and to png
imagemagick - sonme image trimming and transparency ops
maybe extra php modules, eg, for xlm translate.

There were a few enquiries about hosting it when I closed folkinfo and Simon managed to meet the above needs.

I'll leave it at that for now...

I'm very pleased that mandolintab converter is back.

I only use mandolintab very occasionally to produce a line of melody and lyrics on a PDF & a midi.
I only have an android tablet to work on.

But,,,
The top octave has started coming out an octave lower than written.
I mentioned this on an ABC users Facebook group and the consensus seems to be it's a bug.
Someone said it's been buggy for six months.
