Subject: Manchester blues; ideologially unsound
From: GUEST,Big Al Whirttle

No one gets the blues in Manchester. Not with all those matchstick men and matchstick cats and dogs.
Not to mention the kids on the street that are sparking clogs.

Such sights lift depression immediately and seldom is heard a discouraging word.
besides that - there are Americans around - and people can tell if you have have sung in an mock American accent.

Whereas, no ones got a clue if you sound like a seventeenth century shepherd,

So here are the ground rules.
A) don't cherish the ambition to sing the blues
B) don't try to sound like anything recognisable

Funny you posted that just at the same time as I posted a link to Pete Ryder on the Swinton Folk Club thread. May not be blues but it is pretty damn good for a Salford Lad.

Here's another - Dai Thomas - Fixin to Die

If you look at the Pete Ryder one as well you will see the same National guitar propped up behind Alan.

I emigrated to Yorkshire over seven years ago. I still haven't been given Yorkshire nationality as I keep offering to buy a round.
