Pinney's fifteen minutes of fame squandered on a bad memory. It did seem that if one person knew about this, others would know also, but there aren't accounts.

On Wednesday, Pinney told CBS News in an email he had confused Floyd with someone else: "There has been a mix up between George and another fellow co-worker," he wrote. "I apologize for not doing my due diligence and placing you in a very uncomfortable situation," he wrote. He did stand by his claim that Chauvin was very aggressive with black patrons, a claim previously made by the owner of the club. So we still aren't sure if Chauvin and Floyd had any interaction but police are definitely investigating this line of inquiry.

'They bumped heads': Coworker says George Floyd and Derek Chauvin knew each other, had a history

"Now one man is saying that the men knew each other and had a history of not getting along."

HOUSTON — There are new developments concerning the former Minneapolis police officer charged in the death of George Floyd.

Reports had surfaced before that Derek Chauvin worked security at the same nightclub as Floyd. Now one man is saying that the men knew each other and had a history of not getting along.

That man worked security with both men and spoke with CBS News.

“They (Chauvin and Floyd) bumped heads,” David Pinney told CBS News. “It has a lot to do with, with Derek being extremely aggressive within the club with some of the patrons, which, which is, which was an issue.”

CBS News asked Pinney if he had any doubt the men knew each other.

"No. He knew him," Pinney said. "I would say pretty well.”

The Floyd family has said they believe what happened between Chauvin and George Floyd was personal and their attorney has been pushing for him to be charged with first-degree murder.

Chauvin is charged with second degree murder and manslaughter. His bond has been set at $1.25 million without conditions and $1 million with conditions.

The Houston community said their final goodbyes to George Floyd at a memorial service on Tuesday and he was laid to rest in Pearland.

Also it turns out they knew each other, cop and Floyd, from working at the same nightclub, and had argued over cop's treatment of black patrons. Now *that* might bump it up to 1st degree murder.

Letting the air out (the knobby thing on the backside of the gauge) takes a lot more time than slashing tires.
I hadn't heard of this. Why on earth would the cops not want someone to leave? (I'd read the article, but I don't care for paywalls.)

Except that when I saw the "mural" I was thinking it could be called a "vial" or stretch the language a bit and possibly call it a "viral", because via = road in Latin.

Mossback yes 57 cops walked out over charging a cop with abuse then got a round of applause from the police union...
but in all fairness the push was only about 2 Newtons too forceful for the protesters age.

A full Nuremberg would be 10,000 military troops on Pennsylvania Ave.
that Trump actually ordered.
The military decided it was an unlawful order.

There are mission statements, policy, then there is the way things are done. I have personally seen the dozens of moving parts involved in allowing police to get away with murder. Start with the police car. I have found and seen the 'throw down weapons' the police use when they kill an unarmed man, woman or child to establish provocation and self defense. It is ususlly a 6 inch knife. They do not always bother to put a victims fingerprint on it when it can be done later. Then there is the report - enough said. Then there is the police union and the DA...
The code of silence has a murder threat behind it. If you don't stay silent we will allow you to be killed or die if you ever need assistance. Lynching AND lynching by othermeans hasbeen part of the US for a 100 years. Hopes and prayers was what MLK was about. America is fed up with hopes and prayers and frankly don't want to hear them anymore. Only action, law and convictions are going to be heard

The implied threat that other officers will not come to your aid if you do not remain silent about wrong doing is perceived as a possible death sentence. It is the way things are done. This s what BLM needs to change.

"The section of 16th street in front of the White House is now officially Black Lives Matter Plaza” said Mayor Bowser. They painted a mural on 2 blocks of the street, adjacent to the White House, which reads "Black Lives Matter". I hope the Fearless Bunker Inspector can see it from Marine One.

IMO A desire and need to punish is mental illness. In healthy folks it can be acute but passing and eventually disipates. In the pathological, it becomes an obcession and lasts sometimes beyond retalliation. I have wondered if the Trump kids have experienced his punishments. Melania is easy to read but we don't know everything.
It does not look like the kids have ever tried to teach dad.

Choose your obcessions well
Your fathers hell slowly goes by
And you, of tender years,
Can't know the fears
that your elders grew by,
And so please help them with your youth,
They seek the truth before they can die.
Teach your parents…

The National Park Service is in charge of the White House. The employees there are employees of the federal government, not of Trump. As difficult as it will be when he is defeated in November, people are going to have to have a plan to keep him from trashing a National Treasure.

The prospect of trump remaining in the WH after an election loss concerns a lot of people but I think it's a motivating factor to vote against him rather than for him for the large majority. I don't think we're ready for a dictator just yet. Look at all the young folks in the street, you think they're pissed off now wait until he tries to screw with the election process more overtly (he's already denied any election result that does not have him winning). This old fool will be out in the streets with them, with or without a new hip, as I was in the early '70's anti-war riots in D.C.

With the right threats, antics and diversions he doesn't have to do them all to get things to appear done. Donnie has not mentioned the name George Floyd in any way at this date. The 82nd airborn is going back to base after coming to Fort Belvoir in DC. There is a military presence here but not overwhelming.

China has even taken a page from the Trump play book and has made a new law that can arrest and prosecute for 'disrespecting the Chinese national anthem'. Sounds like taking a knee during the star spangled banner.

Trump has built a 10 foot tall chain link fence around the White House at 300 yards. Yes Bush Jr was a chicken hawk nut trump is chicken s...

The civil war simmers but did not succeed in turning bloody.
The red neck militias are still doing traffic stops with AK 47s for practice out west

I'm cautiously optimistic that we're witnessing a sea change in our politics with the overwhelming support people are showing for the protesters and the disdain that's raining down on trump from retired, well-respected military men, former intel officers and justice department officials, and even 5 or 6 Republican Senators who seem to be growing a backbone. Most of the folks I know are appalled by trump and his deranged antics, some who even voted for him.

Gawd, I hope so too. It's been said that when trump "won" in 2016 that he drew to an inside straight, losing the popular vote by 3 mil and winning by a total of 70,000 votes in 3 swing states. Some wag pointed out the other day that with the erosion of support in most of his major constituencies, seniors, evangelicals etc. he's going to have to draw to an inside royal flush this time around. Hearing things like this helps me get out of bed in the morning.

If we have an election that is even close too fair he's gone. He's getting clobbered in every reputable poll and I can't imagine him doing any thing at this stage to improve his prospects and in fact, as the old demented fool gets more and more desperate he's likely to continue in his downward spiral. I just hope the higher ups in our military have the balls to to forestall any more of his attempts to turn their institution into his own personal army a la the SS.

You can bet the farm he's going to do every thing he can to rig this election because if he gets turned out he's looking at spending the rest of his shabby existence in court and possibly doing time in the clink. Our main hope for avoiding the catastrophe of another trump term lies with all these young people out in the street right now, they need to show up at the polls in large numbers and work around all the obstacles that Republicans are going to put in their way. The GOP has never shown much enthusiasm for democracy.
