We know that Virginia is for lovers or where the shithole countries are but newer truisms are appreciated.

"Move to Missisippi its science free"
"Cornwall is for Corn; balls, cobs and holes."

There was a thing on this years ago... The only one I remember is Mississippi: we're gonna need a bigger bible belt.

Something about Arkansas, Q: got any ID? A: Bout what?

When I was a child there seemed to be a phrase associated with the inhabitants of every county in Britain but I didn't pay attention and only remember a couple.

"Devonshire dumplings" was one and I am a "Proud Salopian", having been born in Shropshire.

I'd love to be reminded of all the others.

Robin

We used to joke that "Virginia is for Lovers" after the ad campaign "and West Virginia is for Loving Your Sister". No harm meant, I spent a lot of time hiking, climbing and camping in that wonderful place.

"Virginia is for Lovers", eh?

Virginia - Virgin for short, but not for long...

Steve... when I was about 13, I visited an uncle who used almost the same line when we were commenting about nicknames...someone asked if girl named Virginia was ever called "Ginny". Uncle John said, "No..they called her something else, but not for long."

My aunt said "JOHN!" as I tried to hide that I had gotten the joke.
