Subject: RE: Add: Don't Call Me Early in the Morning (TSands?) From: Stewie Date: 27 Jun 20 - 10:53 PM It is also on The Sands Family 'Collection' Spring Records SCD1030. The insert has this note: "Words and music Tommy Sands copyright Elm Grove Music. Recorded in 1985 at Spring Studios, Rostrevor. Sitting beside a high pressure businessman, Tommy wrote this song when flying home from Canada about the idea of borrowing some retirement time in advance and enjoying life while we're still alive". --Stewie. |
Subject: RE: Add: Don't Call Me Early in the Morning (TSands?) From: Tattie Bogle Date: 27 Jun 20 - 02:02 PM Definitely one of Tommy's songs! You can hear it on YouTube here: Don't call me early in the Morning The lyrics seem correct apart from one medical mishap in the last verse: it should be WHOOPING cough with a W, not hooping! (Aka Pertussis!) Love all the Sands family songs! The Barra MacNeils (with an A) are/were fab: from Cape Breton but ancestry going back to Barra in the Outer Hebrides, where nearly everyone is called McNeil or McNeill or Macneil or MacNeill. Possibly one of their most famous songs is "Working Man", written by the late Rita MacNeil. The band came from the Sydney Mines area in Cape Breton, hence the song. |
Subject: RE: Add: Don't Call Me Early in the Morning (TSands?) From: GUEST Date: 27 Jun 20 - 08:00 AM It seems to have first appeared on the Sands Family's 1976 LP "After the Morning" where the lyrics are credited to them. Another version is on the Barra MacNeil's 2000 CD "RACKET IN THE ATTIC" where it too, is credit to the Sands Family, |

Subject: Lyr Add: Don't Call Me Early in the Morning (TSan From: Joe Offer Date: 27 Jun 20 - 03:41 AM Interesting son. Anybody have exact lyrics? Don’t Call Me Early in the Morning The Irish Rovers Don't call me early in the morning Call me what you want to but leave me alone Don't call me early in the morning Just leave me till the cows are coming home A man or a woman they need their relaxation From rising always at the dawn And the heart of the matter tomorrow is a Saturday And I'll be lying on Don't call me early in the morning Call me what you want to but leave me alone Don't call me early in the morning Just leave me till the cows are coming home Sad the lad that can't rest contented He has it all but must have more He fills himself with pills to retire with a million But falls asleep at sixty-four Don't call me early in the morning Call me what you want to but leave me alone Don't call me early in the morning Just leave me till the cows are coming home Fair is fair and I've done my share My nerves are getting on my nerves If you don't have a pillow of the white swan's feather I'll do with a corner for my head Don't call me early in the morning Call me what you want to but leave me alone Don't call me early in the morning Just leave me till the cows are coming home Just a gentle warning for tomorrow morning No big noises near my room Cars with no exhaust, Chickens with the hooping cough And milkmen that whistle out of tune! Don't call me early in the morning Call me what you want to but leave me alone Don't call me early in the morning Just leave me till the cows are coming home |
