Subject: Lyr Req: All By Myself From: jojofolkagogo Date: 08 Jul 20 - 03:26 AM Bit of a shot in the dark, this one. Does anyone remember a song (pop, not folk) called All By Myself? From the 60s. By a male singer. It was a B side, cant remember the A side, cant remember the artist. What I do remember goes like this: Well I dont want - nobody to love me I dont want - nobody to care I just want - to beeee alone All by myself (all by myself) Thats what I want (thats what I want) Dont want no ?? (pain like I had before??) Dont want no heartache - hanging round my door I just want - to beee alone All by myself (all by myself) Thats what I want (thats what I want) Answers on a postcard, please !! Jo-Jo |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: All By Myself From: BTMP Date: 08 Jul 20 - 10:06 AM Got this from Wiki: "All by Myself" is a song by American artist Eric Carmen released in 1975. The verse is based on the second movement (Adagio sostenuto) of Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Opus 18, famously used to underscore the 1945 British film Brief Encounter. |
Subject: Lyr Add: ALL BY MYSELF (Eric Carmen) From: GUEST Date: 08 Jul 20 - 11:04 AM When I was young I never needed anyone And makin' love was just for fun Those days are gone Livin' alone I think of all the friends I've known But when I dial the telephone Nobody's home All by myself Don't want to be, all by myself anymore All by myself Don't want to live, all by myself anymore Hard to be sure Some times I feel so insecure And love so distant and obscure Remains the cure |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: All By Myself From: Acorn4 Date: 08 Jul 20 - 11:18 AM Apparently Mr Carmen had to pay a sizeable settlement sum to the Rachmaninov estate by way of copyright. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iN9CjAfo5n0 |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: All By Myself From: GUEST,Hootenanny Date: 08 Jul 20 - 11:30 AM Fooled again, I thought I was going to see something interesting about Big Bill Broonzy and Memphis Slim and their song with that title. I always got Slim to do his version whenever he was here on tour. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: All By Myself From: cnd Date: 11 Jul 20 - 09:34 PM Glad to help jojo. Unfortunately, I've got no clue who else would've recorded it; the song was a Knox original (alongside Wes Bryan). I couldn't find a recording released in the 60s online by anyone other than Knox in either the 60s or 70s; perhaps it was a local group? |
