Ron Watkins, the 8chan Troll and QAnon Evangelist, Says He's Running for Congress
Watkins, who is widely suspected of being behind the QAnon conspiracy theory, wants to represent Arizona in 2021

Remember Newt Gingrich and Pat Robertson and all of the Tea Party folks? When Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz seemed as bad as it could get?

That was childsplay compared to this guy. Trump really unlocked a Pandora's box of bad behavior in politics.

What did the Heritage Foundation promote?
A conservative think tank promoting public policy research and analysis based on free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.

Well they have turned a blind eye to most of those values and pursue a Vladamir Putin doctrine that "people don't choose leaders, the people who count votes choose the leaders" .

Now a third of the country has new laws about who counts the votes and who can overturn real results and choose their own electors. Guess who are the alternate electors. Republicans.

The Federalist Society devotes thir efforts to a Conservative Supream Court branch of government. WHO PAYS those Foundations and Society's, its people like the former Koch Brothers who have significant Stalinesque heritage.

The evil is in the Dark Money and the helpful idiot conspiracy theorists.

It's not an evil place but it's trending in that direction. On January 6th a sitting president incited a mob to violently disrupt our most important democratic process and there probably will be very little, if any, repercussions from it for him or his henchmen due to the partisan politics that have poisoned the national atmosphere. Optimism is a good thing as long as you don't lose sight of reality.

In my previous post it should have been "acts of sedition" not "acts of treason".

America is not a evil place. If not for a gun culture and a generational teaching that exterminating all the colored brutes is a cultural priority, this is a nice place to live. All the greedy stupid mistakes can be fixed over time.

Things are moving along. Trump wants to claim executive privilege for all of the documents in the National Archives, but Biden isn't letting him claim privilege for any of them. Bannon has tried to follow Trump's suit, claiming privilege, and is about to get his ass arrested.

Biden declines Trump request to withhold White House records from Jan. 6 committee

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY ! Fox News is 25 years old today.
It started with a shock jock vibe and soon latched onto Islamic terrorism hatred and when Democrats tried not to slur all Muslims it evolved until today the Fox enemy are all Democrats. Domestic terrorism is fully supported by Fox News as well as Facebook anti vax conspiracies. I see the irony how their tactics are more like the initial Islamic terrorists they were against. Sure racial division is at the heart of all their success.
I just learned today that OAN News {a uber Fox} was started by AT&T.

Republicans say that
President Biden is trying to RAM DOWN YOUR THROAT;
Improved health, sustainable transportation options for millions of Americans by modernizing and expanding transit and rail networks across the country, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The Plan is the largest federal investment in public transit in history and is the largest federal investment in passenger rail since the creation of Amtrak.

Repair and rebuild our roads and bridges with a focus on climate change mitigation, resilience, equity, and safety for all users, including cyclists and pedestrians. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework is the single largest dedicated bridge investment since the construction of the interstate highway system.

Build a national network of electric vehicle (EV) chargers along highways and in rural and disadvantaged communities. The largest investment in EV infrastructure in history, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework will accomplish the President’s goal of building 500,000 EV chargers.

Electrify thousands of school and transit buses across the country to reduce harmful emissions and drive domestic manufacturing of zero emission vehicles and components.

Eliminate the nation’s lead service lines and pipes, delivering clean drinking water to up to ten million American families and more than 400,000 schools and child care facilities that currently don’t have it, including in Tribal nations and disadvantaged communities. The Plan is the largest investment in clean drinking water and waste water infrastructure in American history.

Connect every American to reliable high-speed internet, just as the federal government made a historic effort to provide electricity to every American nearly one hundred years ago. The Framework will also drive down prices for internet service and close the digital divide.

Upgrade our power infrastructure, including by building thousands of miles of new, resilient transmission lines to facilitate the expansion of renewable energy, including through a new Grid Authority. The Plan is the single largest investment in clean energy transmission in American history.

Create a first of its kind Infrastructure Financing Authority that will leverage billions of dollars into clean transportation and clean energy.

Make the largest investment in addressing legacy pollution in American history, a cleanup effort that will create good-paying union jobs and advance environmental justice.

Prepare more of our infrastructure for the impacts of climate change, cyber attacks, and extreme weather events. The Framework is the largest investment in the resilience of physical and natural systems in American history.
The Framework, which will generate significant economic benefits and returns, is financed through a combination of closing the tax gap, redirecting unspent emergency relief funds, targeted corporate user fees, and the macroeconomic impact of infrastructure investment.

BUT WORSE THAN THAT:
Two free years of community college
The legislation provides two years of free community college for all students, regardless of family income. It is anticipated to cost $108 billion.

The bill would also add $80 billion in funding for Pell Grants, which Democrats say hasn't kept pace with the increasing cost of college.

Child care and universal pre-K
Every family that applies shall be offered child care assistance for children ages 0 to 5. In all, the plan allocates roughly $450 billion to lower the cost of child care and provide two years of universal pre-K for 3- and 4-year-olds, according to the House Education and Labor Committee.

The panel estimated that this proposal would keep the cost of child care at or below 7% of most families' income.

Medicare expansion
This heavily debated provision would expand Medicare to include coverage of dental, hearing and vision services.

Manchin believes the program's solvency should be addressed before it is expanded.

"We need to stabilize it," he told reporters Friday, according to reports. "By 2026, you understand, the trust fund is going to be insolvent."

Extended child tax credit
Democrats expanded the child tax credit for 2021 in their $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief plan, and now want to extend it through 2025.

Under the enhancement, families receive $3,600 per child under age 6, and $3,000 per child age 6 to 18. Most families receive monthly payments of either $250 or $300 per child.

The full expanded child tax credit is available to individuals making up to $75,000 or married couples making up to $150,000.

While Mr. Biden has touted the tax credit's success in lifting children out of poverty, Manchin thinks Democrats' social spending package should impose work requirements for parents who qualify.

"You want to help the children and the parents that are basically providing for those children. There's no work requirements whatsoever. There's no education requirements whatsoever for better skill sets," he told CNN in an interview this month. "Don't you think, if we're going to help the children, that the people should make some effort?"

The House Ways and Means Committee has also endorsed permanent expansions of the earned income tax credit and child and dependent care tax credit.

Cut prescription drug prices
Another key provision in the bill is aimed at helping to slash prescription drug prices. Americans on average pay two to three times as much as people in other countries for prescription drugs, according to the White House. Among other things, the legislation allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices. Medicare is currently prohibited by law from negotiating for the best deal.

Paid family and medical leave
For the first time in history, the U.S. would have comprehensive paid leave, covering 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave. The legislation would replace at least two-thirds of earnings, up to $4,000 per month, while the lowest-paid workers would receive 80% of their income.

The White House has previously estimated the plan would cost $225 billion over the next 10 years.

Climate change
Combating climate change and slowing the rate at which Earth warms will mean transitioning away from fossil fuels, the major source of greenhouse gas emissions.

One provision that Manchin has objected to is the $150 billion "clean electricity performance program," which would pay utility companies that increase their renewable energy supplies by 4% per year. Companies that do not hit this benchmark would face financial penalties. The bill also provides significant funding for forest management and other wildfire control measures.

There are also measures to incentivize the buying of electric vehicles and the construction of charging stations; consumer rebates to homeowners who weatherfit their houses; and financial penalties for oil and gas producers for methane leaks, among other things.

Lesser-known provisions
The massive bill has a slew of lesser-known provisions as well.

For instance, the bill would authorize $5 million a year for the Small Business Administration for an entrepreneurial program for formerly incarcerated individuals.

The bill also directs $2.5 billion for the Justice Department to award competitive grants or contracts to local governments, community-based organizations and other groups to support intervention strategies to reduce community violence.

How they plan to pay for it
Democrats have also included a tax plan to pay for the provisions in the bill.

The corporate tax rate would rise from 21% to 26%, and the top income tax rate for Americans making over $400,000 would increase from 37% to 39.6%. The top capital gains rate would also go from 20% to 25%.

Democrats are also looking to beef up tax enforcement by the Internal Revenue Service as a vehicle for paying for the package.

The Joint Committee on Taxation estimates the tax changes spearheaded by Democrats would raise more than $2 trillion in revenue over 10 years, with roughly $1 trillion in tax increases from high-income Americans and nearly $1 trillion from corporate and international tax reforms.

I say "ram away"

It appears that former Trump press secretary Stephanie Grisham's book is going to do some damage to the Orange One.

Trump dictated a statement that made Grisham feel like 'a crazy cultist' — then he forgot he even composed it

Grisham was in that inner circle during the entire administration. From Wikipedia:
She was a press aide to Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, and then a member of the presidential transition team. As Press Secretary, she was the first White House press secretary in American history to hold no press conferences, instead opting for interviews on conservative news outlets. Grisham assumed the role of chief of staff to the first lady on April 7, 2020.

She resigned on January 6, 2021 following the 2021 storming of the United States Capitol. In September 2021, she announced the publication of her book about her time working in the Trump administration, I'll Take Your Questions Now.

If you read Stephanie Winston Wolkoff's book about the fraud and excess of the Inaugural committee (that is still in the courts) Grisham helped with the presidential three-card-monte that let a lot of people dip deeply into the funds.

Trump's brand of idiocy has bled across the border northward:

The New York Times Canada Letter headline

Vaccine Passports Roll Out, and So Do Unruly Anti-Vaccine Protests

A crowd rallying against vaccination for Covid-19 clogged the streets outside a Vancouver hospital this week, haranguing and, in one case, assaulting health care workers, slowing ambulances, delaying patients entering for treatment and disturbing those recovering inside.

Kennedy Stewart, the city’s mayor, was among the many people to quickly condemn its members.

Texas is a direct victim of the Trump administration - his packed Supreme Court (yes, Joe, add more members) and the anti-abortion and anti-voter nonsense. West Virginia and Arizona "Democratic in name only" senators Manchion and Sinema need to get the sticks out of their asses and act like Democrats. Everything is grinding to a halt - but the alternative is one of them decides to walk across the aisle and hand it all over to McConnell. Ugg. Time for more Democrats to be elected in 2022. Treat this election like 2018, let the anger at Trump be the momentum needed to knock more GOP Trumpites out of office.

I told him the first rule of fight club is not to talk about fight club and asked if he was a patriot. He was convinced I was the real deal and on his side. Then I asked if he was 'there'. He said he was in the hospital with lung clots from double pnumonia and Covid. In 3 minutes he had traced his ancestry gathered from his late father back to the 18th century. Some of his relatives were classical musicians, one saw the Reichstad burn and grandad was on Normandy beach and the bulge.

Yesterday Trump was booed at his own rally. The reason? He advocated the Covid vaccine. His reaction? "And you know what? I believe totally in your freedoms. I do. You've got to do what you have to do."

but also: "But, I recommend take the vaccines. I did it. It's good. Take the vaccines."

So there's that. Slightly better than "It is what it is."

Yesterday saw a video on Fox News where Trump jeered at the Covid booster shot, saying Pfizer was just developing it to get hold of "billions of dollars". "Boosters?" he said, "Who ever heard of boosters?"

This morning I woke up with an insight. He's jealous. Jealousy is the crazy emotion, and it makes people do the most illogical things. Here Trump is, rejected by the voters and sidelined at one curlicued mansion or another. Other people are taking the lead, other people are making a difference, getting credit, and he's burning with rage. And he doesn't care whom he hurts.

There is much to learn in 5 short pages... but while peering at Pompeo in terms of body language I noticed how Mike's eyes pleaded for eye contact and his hand tightly wrapped around the open straight limp hand of the Talib who gave no eye contact but instead stared at 2 other Talib leaders as if to say, 'Look this American is not my friend'.

For campaign purposes I would prefer to see Trump glad handing the Taliban. I would direct your attention back to the TREATY in terms of what is there and what is absent.

Here is the "Peace agreement" Trump and Pompeo worked out in Feb. 2020.

Summing up by Paul Nuki on Twitter:

1/5 Have you read the deal agreed between the US and the Taliban?

It explains why the Taliban now rule Afghanistan again; the US just surrendered it, even promising financial support.

A quick thread follows but 1st a pic of Big Mike Pompeo doing the deal in Doha in Feb 2020...

2/ The deal itself was simple: The Taliban promised (on the lives of their mums, daughters etc) not to hurt the US or its allies again. In return, they got the following five things:

i/ A complete withdrawal of all US and allied troops under an agreed time line. Nice...

ii/ The immediate release of thousands of Taliban prisoners - you, know the ones guilty of terrorism, stoning women, blowing up US/UK troops, that sort of thing...

iii/ Dropping all sanctions/bounties on the Taliban by a week this Friday so they can get on with building their new caliphate unhindered. Great .. .

iv/ A firm promise not to threaten the Taliban ever again or interfere in the running of their new caliphate. Super ...

v/ Being friends with the Taliban in future and helping them build their new Islamic state via "economic cooperation". A new US/Afghani narco hub perhaps?? Smashing...

3/ If you think my take on this a bit one sided, I urge you to read the agreement for yourself.

It's basically Versailles, as drafted by the Taliban.

Here it is in full. It takes just 5 mins to read: https://2017-2021.state.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Signed-Agreement-02292020.pdf

4/ One last thought - was Big Mike under duress when he agreed it; was he threatened with torture, death or similar in order to sign away 20 years of blood and toil?

Not judging by the pictures from the event. He just seemed his normal plump, jovial self...

5/ And what of the Taliban; how did they seem at the signing ceremony in Doha last year?

Well, as usual, they appeared to be hanging tough. But having played an absolute blinder, they were almost certainly crying with laughter on the inside.

As usual Steve presumes too much. "Most of your countrymen and women haven't even got a modest understanding of history."
Now he presumes to speak for THE ENTIRE WESTERN WORLD.
I PRESUME he will consider petitioning mods to remove this post although it has no ad hominum attacks that he is well known for, possibly the reason why some old UK threads became anathma to civility.
I do not agree that due to Biden's ignorance and our own misguided assumptions regarding democracy we will see a 'Return of the Trump part II'. I take no offense that Steve is being a devil's advocate, I just disagree for a number of valid reasons we could discuss.
