To all those of my chums who have not yet heard the shocking news.....my old mate Ron Trueman-Border passed earlier today. For those who didn't know him he was an extraordinary song writer, some of his songs having jumped into my own repertoire, namely Peter Green, Angel of Mercy, and The Blind Lead The Blind. I am too shocked to write any more just now other than to say farewell old mate and thanks for your friendship and music.

A great loss. He was a musician with a unique stage presence and was a one-off. I have Ron to the "In Memoriam" thread and send my condolences to all those who love and miss him. RIP

Yes, I was very sad to hear our own "RTB" has gone to the folk club in the sky. Saw him many times at OFF (Orpington Friday Folk not Orpington Folk Club) and enjoyed his songs muchly. Nice guy.
Will be very much missed - but forever on you-tube.

So sad to hear that Ron is no longer with us. I live in South Australia so only got to meet him a couple of times whilst in the UK. Ron was exceedingly generous with his lyrics and help with chords. He will be missed. My condolences to his family and Suzi.

Ron was a one off. I remember the first time I saw him at The Railway Folk Club in Portsmouth I was knocked out and was so moved I wrote a piece for the Portsmouth News, saying "This man is the logical successor to Richard Thompson". As a promoter, I ended up booking Ron many many times, and we became good friends I still kept on touch when I moved to live in Ireland in 2006, we were constantly messaging each other on Facebook. I last saw Ron at SoL Party 2019, a private festival I run for around 300 people in Kent. He went down so well the previous year we had to get him back. He provided support for Ralph McTell for me once, Ralph was seriously impressed. Likewise the top U.S blues player Kelly Joe Phelps - Ron supported him there when I ran the Isle Of Wight Folk & Roots Festival. I sailed across the Irish sea to Ron's funeral, bringing my camper van. Just as well, as a few pints were sunk at the garden wake, and my bed was waiting in the car park... My heart goes out to his partner Victoria Lloyd, and his many friends. He will be sorely missed. A fabulous talent and one of the loveliest and most self effacing men I have ever known. R.I.P Ron, but in the words of one of your songs "old hippies never die..."
