Sitting on the porch cataloging our CDs. About half done, then come the LPs, the cassettes, and reel to reel tapes. As far as I know there aren't any wax cylinders, 78s, 16 2/3s, wire recordings, or beta tapes.

Observing the holiday in residential psychiatric treatment,
means steering well clear of one fellow patient
who is a little child throwing tantrums in an adult body.
The male of the species.

He has already damaged two punching bags in the patient gym room.
Mind you,
these are the punching bags mounted on a pedestal
that rocks around a bit on the floor.

After all, they know better here than to use
punching bags that hang from above.
Far too tempting, to any suicidal patients,
to get rid of the punching bag
and to hang themselves instead.

Next year I must endeavor to spend the holiday in happier company.

As it happens, my acquaintance and I are in residential treatment together.
The Labor Day evening event will be the evening when
all of us 'residents' get together for a going-away celebration
for my acquaintance, who will shortly be discharged.
The reservation has already been put in to the institutional kitchen
and the kitchen staff will provide the crème brulée for the occasion.

I am driving to Ottawa to see my relations and finalize plans for the interment of my husband's ashes. I'll be there for a week, probably needing the whole time to regain my strength for the return trip to Stratford.

Labour Day itself will be spent on Highway 401. It will not be fun.

Rap, I snicker in your general direction.

Went to a lake, ate fried chicken and a hot dog, got a nice sunburn.

Had this been a normal year I would have been breaking camp and driving home, falling exhaustedly into bed and putting off getting my camping stuff dealt with.

Hmmm. This was a better Labor *Day* but I am still sorry my camping naked hippie weekend didn't happen.

Himself came home from the market on Saturday with about six litres of Roma tomatoes, so we shall spend at least half of Labour Day on making tomato sauce. I will fold and stow the laundry I washed yesterday. The rest of the day will be spent reading, working and procrastinating.

How do you plan to observe
the long-weekend Labor Day holiday,
the first weekend in September,
with a coronavirus pandemic going on?

I hope to watch some television indoors.
(it will take planning --
my clinic in-patient room has no television)
