Thanks for the replies. Good to know it's been recorded which was news to me. Now I can teach my grandchildren.

Hamish Imlach also recorded it in 1972: the sleeve has pics of a sort of model of Ted Heath's face on it!
Correct title: Fine Old English Tory Times

I thought the City Waites recorded the song, but I can't find it.

is it this parody by Dickens?

I'll sing you a new ballad, and I'll warrant it first-rate,
Of the days of that old gentleman who had that old estate;
When they spent the public money at a bountiful old rate
On ev'ry mistress, pimp, and scamp, at ev'ry noble gate,
In the fine old English Tory times;
Soon may they come again!

Looking for music & lyrics.Used to have a socialist tunebook from earlier in the 20th C but seem to have lent or misplaced it. Just seems appropriate somehow.
