Seems like we need to know a bit about Ivory Joe and his songs. Leeneia sang two of his classics today.

Well, when I lost my baby, I almost lost my mind.
When I lost my baby, I almost lost my mind.
I was so broken-hearted when he left me behind.

I pass a million people but can't tell who I meet.
I pass a million people, I can't tell who I
meet.
Just looking for my baby, so good, so fine, so sweet.

I went to the gypsy and had my fortune read.
I went to see a gypsy, I had my fortune read.
I hung my head in sorrow when she said what she said.

Well, I can tell you people, the news was not so good.
Well, I can tell you people, the news was not so good.
She said, "Your baby's left you, this time he's gone for good."

Since I met you baby my whole life has changed
Since I met you baby my whole life has changed
Did anybody tell you that I am not the same?
I don't need nobody to tell my troubles to
I don't need nobody to tell my troubles to
since I met you baby, my whole life is you.

Since I met you baby I'm a happy man.
Since I met you baby I'm a happy man.
Promise I will love you in every way I can.

B. B. King was very partial to that latter song,
and when I heard him live,
he got the audience to hum along with him on the song.

At the risk of stating a very unpopular opinion, I really liked Pat Boone's version of "I almost lost my mind". It was the first version I heard.

That said, Ivory Joe Hunter's version is, in my opinion, better.

I'm with you, Don. I learned it from Pat Boone, and I like the way he sings it. Except for the bah hoo hoo hoo hoo at the end. I don't sing that.

In the version above, I wrote this line:

Just looking for my baby, so good, so fine, so sweet.

The line in the Internet version didn't scan and didn't rhyme. I didn't feel like fiddling with it to make it work, so I wrote my own. If it reminds you of a line from St James' Infirmary, it's on purpose.
