I once had to proofread a book by someone who had persuaded a publisher to publish his life story. They had agreed on condition he paid for the production himself.
As I read it I realised that he must have bored everyone at his local pub with his anecdotes, and they had humoured him by saying "You should write a book, you know", just to shut him up.

These days self-publishing is much easier (but some of the results can be pretty dire).

Now you will be used in the same sentence as JK Rowling and after that the Gateway franchise will be be making the 4th generation movie and we can say we knew you when. Be careful buying your next island if your neighbor is Richard Branson, he's got control of transportation and distribution in the Carribean. Animatronic action gnomes will come flooding into the market from China causing a security threat in America worse than Tic Tok and could lead to a world war. Be careful and stay safe.

[*.. one of my old mates sold his novel to Hollywood about 30 odd years ago,
he made enough $$$ to buy a home, and set himself up nicely.
The movie still aint been made...]
