I was just about to post a request for the whereabouts of David Ackles, one of my favorite singer-songwriters from the early 70s. I thought I'd try a web search first, and discovered that he died this past March. I have all 3 of his Elektra albums, but I haven't heard them in a few years since my turntable gave up the ghost. Apparently they've been re-released on CD, and I recommend giving them a listen. He has some truly wonderful songs. "Down River" is powerful, and "House Above the Strand" is a simple and beautiful love song. For more info on David Ackles, there is a website here. He was an underappreciated talent, in my book. I, for one, will miss him and his music.
