Some of you will know that much of my time and concentration over the past five or so years has been spent on a medieval Occitan story of King Arthur, "The Tale of Jaufre". I've been telling bits of the story, or the gist of it, at various club and festival events, as part of my PhD, and will continue to do so - but the whole thing is too long to fit club or festival formats. I've now created an adaptation of the full story in modern English (keeping as close as I can to the tone and flavour of the original, and including some rhymed sections), and I'm recording this in episodes as a podcast. Two episodes are available so far on Google Podcasts or via anchor.fm I've also made a short video introduction which you can find on my YouTube channel (TheAnneLister).
To justify this post sitting above the line, I have luckily met the very wonderful Australian musician, David Yardley, via social media, and he has created the signature music/song as well as a beautiful love song for the right point in the story. He specialises in composing music which sounds authentically medieval, and I'm very excited about how it sets the mood for the story.
So - if you're interested in medieval music, or medieval storytelling, or King Arthur, or what has been obsessing me for around half a century, have a listen. There's a blog on my website with more notes and details about why and how I've been doing what I've been doing.
For those of you who are only interested in my songwriting, it's almost a year since I released my album "Astrolabe" and it's been very difficult to promote it, given all that's been going on. Downloads or physical copies can be available. Check out my website!

Nice stuff on there. Though that title does make Anne sound as if she's an ocean liner...

Thank you! The title was necessary to distinguish my work from my famous namesake. I'm constantly surprised at how many people have asked me if I've taken my name from the lesbian diarist, but I'm fairly sure my Dad had never heard of her!
