Incidentally, I would say this tune is a march. On the CD mentioned above it is played after Ronnie Cooper's 'Da Headlands' which is a march.

Hello Peterr. I've just spent an enjoyable half hour looking though my Shetland tunebook collection for the tune in question, without luck. Then I looked at my LP sleeve and noticed the track was probably played by The Cullivoe Fiddlers. This tickled my brain and I remembered I had a CD of the Cullivoe Fiddlers. Yes - I found the track! It's called

Da Gloup Lasses
"A man named Horace Saxby came to live in Gloup in the early 1900s. He had previously been in the Canadian mounted police. One day in spring he came out to see Willie Barclay Henderson who was in the fields sowing corn. Saxby was anxious to teach him this tune, which he had composed. He couldn't play the fiddle, so he had to hum the tune over to Willie, correcting him as they went along. The tune quickly became popular with the local fiddlers."

Reinhard, that's the problem. There are indeed 21 tracks but only 20 listed on the sleeve. Da Faery Reel/ De'il amang the Tailors is track 7, then comes the mystery track, followed by Spence's/Lay de at dee at 9 and Oot and In/ High road at 10.
The tune sounds like a polka or a march. I think I'll just learn it anyway!

I do have the LP but I also downloaded Shetland Fiddlers from (if I remember correctly) the Time Has Told Me Blog many years ago. That archive had 21 tracks, with track 7 Da Faery Reel and track 8 De'il Amang the Tailors, which are both listed together as one track on the record sleeve.

I've been managing to put old vinyl LPs onto my computer via Audacity. Latest is the above LP from I think 1973. I ran into cpmplete confusion when naming the tracks, as there are ten on the A side, but only nine listed, the extra tune being track eight. I find a reference to the problem by a Mudcat posting from 2005, but no solution. Does anyone have this LP, and have they identified the rogue track?
