Tech: Songbook vs OnSong for Lyrics

Is anyone up on the current differences between OnSong and SongBook? (The 2021 or even the 2020 comparison!)

I sing acapella so the chords are not really of importance. I mainly need it for Lyrics and like to add notes about the songs.

I know both have done many updates and made many changes since I was using them.

I am entirely a Mac/iPad/iPhone device person at this point. Though I am fluent in Windows, I no longer have need for that compatibility.

The Linkesoft app seems to be called Songbook ChordPro on iOS (the first link - which sometimes fails here) but SongBook on Android and Mac.

As I'm using an Android tablet here I looked in Google Play. There is also a Songbook (no capital B) and SongbookPro (which looks similar) and various other combinations of songs, books, and chords.

Nothing called 'on song' in G-Play, but there is an app called OpenSong - which is free.

And since I was thinking about trying that free Android app (I never install an app without knowing its provenance - and this is clearly a field ripe for ripoffs) I found this in a post by its author:

You seem to be mixing up a few apps that have different limitations and purposes. OpenSong, OpenSongApp, OnSong

• OpenSongApp is me. It's an open source application (anyone can contribute). It only works on Android. It is designed to help users of the great desktop application 'OpenSong'
  
• OpenSong', probably the most widely used, available on Windows, Mac, Linux, but not mobile devices, is also OpenSource (anyone can contribute to and help develop the coding) - something I've done in the past. A great team of developers! I have not copied them, I've written a stand alone application that allows users who already have songs in this application, to display them on a mobile device for performing. OpenSong concentrates on projecting words for congregational singing and managing a collection of songs (with or without chords).
• OnSong is an iOS only application that acts like a song book - like mine and hundreds of others out there. If you own an iOS device, it seems to be the go to app, suggesting it is very good. I've never owned an iOS device and was completely unaware of this app when I started developing mine - which I wrote to help me learn Android programming and to give me a song book for my tablet - at that time, I couldn't find an app that did what I needed on Android. I've still never actually used OnSong (although I regularly work with users who do), so I can't comment on how it works or its features, or indeed its similarity or not to mine, but I've taken time to get the apps to play nicely with each other.

Thanks Dave, but I actually own both the apps I mentioned. I just misposted in the very first post and could not figure out how to change or edit it.

Yes, Songbook is also called Songbook Chordpro in the app store, but on both the OS (Mac) and iOS (Mobile) apps it is just called Songbook.

SongbookPro appears to be its own app and company. The developer and owner is Jonathan Salmon. It looks similar to Songbook. But since I own both OnSong and Songbook, I am not interested in buying another one!

Interestingly, OnSong is now only on iPhone and iPad. It does not appear to have an app for the Mac. So that has pretty much decided me on using SongBook ChordPro (aka Songbook).

Your app sounds wonderful, but now since I am retired, I have the luxury of being on only one platform. It is really nice to be able to do that. Makes things a lot easier; much less that I have to work around.

I’ve got an iPad and have only used OnSong for a few years.   It took a while to figure out all you can do with it.   Great for editing, changing keys, etc.    I just love it.    Seems that only Safari has the Add to OnSong action arrow.. Google Chrome doesn’t. So import songs from Safari.
