Subject: The Voice, tv show From: GUEST,I Don't Know Date: 09 Jan 21 - 11:13 AM Tonight for anyone interested but missed the advertising - the very talented Joe Topping is on The Voice. Support him if you can. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Jeri Date: 09 Jan 21 - 11:55 AM Never heard of him. Carter Rubin won it. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Jeri Date: 09 Jan 21 - 11:57 AM Here he is singing his last song: The Climb |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Jos Date: 09 Jan 21 - 12:30 PM I tried the Carter Rubin video, but only managed to listen to half of it - it was so nice when it stopped. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Jeri Date: 09 Jan 21 - 01:48 PM I wonder why the hate level is turned up to 10 today. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Jeri Date: 09 Jan 21 - 01:58 PM Googled him. Apparently, he's British. I can't find a clip of him on the show, but there's a nice version of Star of the County Down, with a resonator guitar on line. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Jos Date: 09 Jan 21 - 02:18 PM That's one is much better. I wasn't consumed with hatred for Carter Rubin. I just really, really didn't want to listen to any more of it. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Joe G Date: 09 Jan 21 - 07:05 PM I didn't see him on the programme but Joe Topping is a well respected folk musician in the UK and has appeared at the Topic Folk Club in the past as well as many other clubs and festivals. I imagine he is trying to make the best of the current circumstances where touring is not practical. Good luck to him! |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: RTim Date: 09 Jan 21 - 07:19 PM Sally Barker made a name for herself on a similar stage - if you want it - why not!! Tim Radford |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Jeri Date: 09 Jan 21 - 07:25 PM I've seen two former contestants here who've done house concerts and smaller venues. I'm not entirely sure life isn't better for them when they don't win. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Reinhard Date: 10 Jan 21 - 02:45 AM Joe Topping released some fine CDs, both solo and with Elbow Jane, on the Fellside label between 2009 and 2015. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: GUEST,I Don't Know Date: 10 Jan 21 - 08:00 AM Well done Joe through to the next round |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: r.padgett Date: 10 Jan 21 - 03:35 PM Yes I looked for Joe Topping on playback ~ he was first on ~ he sang and accompanied himself on guitar He is an accomplished singer songwriter in the UK and really of the folkie style performers Ray |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Bonzo3legs Date: 11 Jan 21 - 06:11 PM "The Voice" reminds me of Gary Haliday on BBC tv in early 1960s!! |
Subject: The Voice, tv show From: GUEST,I Don't Know Date: 19 Feb 21 - 10:14 AM Saturday night on The Voice uk tv show. Joe Topping starts his next round. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: GUEST,I don't know Date: 21 Feb 21 - 04:00 AM Well done, through to the semi final. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Joe Offer Date: 21 Feb 21 - 04:27 AM I see that The Voice is on NBC (click) in the US and on BBC (click) in the UK. Is it the same show, or different versions for different countries? Any other countries that have versions? -Joe- |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Hamish Date: 21 Feb 21 - 04:39 AM Joe Topping is, well, topping. Here's his bling audition: Joe's Blind audition |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Hamish Date: 21 Feb 21 - 04:43 AM Nd in a later round: Joe, The Voice Battles |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Hamish Date: 21 Feb 21 - 04:46 AM Inspired by Sally Barker, I had a go several years ago. Lots of waiting around and queueing, but I had a brilliant day! The auditions were done so supportively and the adjudicators were lovely. (Not like X Factor, or so I believe). Made it through the first round, but not the second, so never got on the telly. Hey ho. Never mind. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Backwoodsman Date: 21 Feb 21 - 04:55 AM ”I see that The Voice is on NBC (click) in the US and on BBC (click) in the UK. Is it the same show, or different versions for different countries? Any other countries that have versions?” I believe they’re different shows, Joe. That would account for Jeri’s confusion over Joe Topping (who is a well known folk artist here in the UK). |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: r.padgett Date: 21 Feb 21 - 05:31 AM Just watched Saturday's episode on Catch up ~ duos and trios even ~ round 2 The Voice is on ITV and only clips on BBC Iplayer btw The US version looks to be totally different Astounding harmonies and singing when round one winners set out to battle against each other Joe Topping through round two Ray |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Jeri Date: 21 Feb 21 - 09:36 AM Joe, they're different shows. The Voice is on in the US, the UK, Australia, and quite a few other countries. The one being discussed is the UK variant. The US one is done for now, after Carter Rubin won it in 2020. I've had the opportunity of seeing two former competitors at house concerts. I think having been on the show helps with people's careers. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Jeri Date: 21 Feb 21 - 09:48 AM Various countries with a version of The Voice I don't think we want a thread for each one. :) |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Jeri Date: 21 Feb 21 - 09:54 AM This might be the latest video (?) |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: r.padgett Date: 21 Feb 21 - 11:15 AM The Voice of Holland, also known as TVOH, is a Dutch reality television competition, created by John de Mol, airing on RTL 4. For the first nine seasons, The Voice of Holland have been hosted by Martijn Krabbé and Wendy van Dijk. In the tenth season (2019–2020), Wendy van Dijk is replaced by Chantal Janzen. Looks like Holland can claim to be the format creators Ray |
Subject: The Voice, tv show From: GUEST,I Don't Know Date: 06 Mar 21 - 07:53 AM Joe is on tonight in is semi- final. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: GUEST,Pete from seven stars link Date: 06 Mar 21 - 05:27 PM Joe topping was good , but I think the duo was the right choice . But it’s good to have a folkie do so well up to this point |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: GUEST,I don't know Date: 07 Mar 21 - 05:34 AM Sorry to see Joe never made the final but we'll done for trying. Anyone interested in watching more of him check out the Swan Song Project podcast, songs for bereavement, Joe wrote a song for his mother called Throw me to the wind, sings it with the rest of his Elbow Jane band mates as support, incredible song showing an incredible talent. |
Subject: RE: The Voice, tv show From: Hamish Date: 07 Mar 21 - 12:25 PM Hmmm... for what it's worth, I thought the choice was between Joe and the rapper. I really thought the duo was the least good of the three. |
