Subject: RE: 2021 Obit: John Corteen (COVID-19) From: Raggytash Date: 10 Jan 21 - 10:17 AM This is indeed very sad news. I last saw him just over a year ago when I bought a Portuguese Mandola from him. We had a very good session in Kenmare with it. My condolences to Marie and his family in England. |
Subject: RE: 2021 Obit: John Corteen (COVID-19) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 10 Jan 21 - 10:09 AM John has videos uploaded on a YouTube channel. He apparently took a lot of photos of the 2012 Fastnet Maritime and Folk Festival in 2012 at Ballydehob County Cork and put up a video slide show. I've never seen a Facebook page like this one, but it appears to be for Free Spirit. Odd how large the photos are. Free Spirit have songs posted on Reverbnation. I'll stop there. A Google Search has lots more results. |
Subject: Obit: John Corteen (COVID-19) From: The Sandman Date: 10 Jan 21 - 05:15 AM John performed with his wife Marie as Freespirit for several years at www.fastnetmaritime.com. He died recently from Covid 19. John and Marie also organised a festival in Glengariff for many years based around Harringtons pub, he also gave his time generously to teaching young musicians in the area. he was a contributor to this forum under freespiritceol. I have no further details. I send my condolences to Marie and to his family and friends R.I.P. |
