I'm going to try out this whole Hearme thing now, does anyone want to join me? I thought maybe in the future we could use a thread like this to schedule Hearme song circles, etc. I going over now, see you in there!

Darn MBO. I missed you. Yes, We should probably schedule certain times to be in the Hearme room. I suggest we use Mudcat time (EST) too.

We could even schedule it for certain activities, like shanty singing, or Mudcat Song Book Songs!

JAB.

P.S. A quick link would also help

How do you get to Hearme. I think I need a road map. Will I have problems with hearing the sound? I seem to be one of those Mudcatters who can not download anything from Midi resources. I tried to follow all the instructions, but it seems to not work for me unless someone posts a blue clicky of the music you guys are talking about. From there I can hear it.
Kind of disappointing.

I'm lost in the world of ICQ Electrickery. Just trying to catch up on abreviations and click buttons. I cannot seem to get it to work very well. Perhaps by Y3K I will have figured it out. In two weeks I've been able to chat with two people; and have one request to chat from a Mudcatter who must be in the same boat I'm in. Sorry but new tricks and old dogs don't seem to work very well. Would dearly love to listen in Mbo, but I think it would be easier to mail you a tape recorder instead. Yours, Aye. Dave

Bonnie, I can't listen to the Mudcat midis either, it seems to have something to do with Internet Explorer. I think Alan of Oz will try to fix it when he has time.

HearMe and ICQ are two separate entities. DavetheAM, ICQ is really easy to use, once you get the hang of it. One of us can help you figure out a new way to roll over, if ya'd like.**BG** Hell, most of us aren't any younger!

There have been threads on both of these with links and explanations. If they don't show up, let us know, and one of us will be able to help. They are both a lot of fun and most importantly, FREE!

Folks, I'd love to try the Hearme thing again--and I can show you how to get it, it's not hard at all. Problem is noone can hear me! I can hear everyone else fine, so either you talk to me, and I type my messages in the text box, or we use ICQ, which I haven't tried yet. I'll get back to you later...

I couldn't listen to the midis either, till some helpful bod in the Mudcat (Mmario?) suggested I check my volume controls, and I found I had muted the one for Synthesizer Balance, which was evidently the one I needed for midis. (I hadn't known that till then though.) Fortunately red faces don't show on the Mudcat.

Then yesterday my son was having the same kind of a problem with a game he was trying to play, and I just reached over and fixed it the same way, and really impressed him...

Yes! HearMe is very simple and easy to use ( but you need a different mic or up the volume Mbo!) Excellent suggestion from Jab, a "theme" sing-arounds or whatever.

Let's pick a day, say friday PM, settle on a time and try to aim for it? We DO need an easier link too so Banjo Bonnie and others can find it. Cheers, Nancy Can you "hear" with ICQ?

Can't somebody do a link? I want to play, but I'm too dim to do the clever stuff. I am told that I'm short of memory (hmmm I knew THAT!!) and that my harddrive is inadequate. Would that make any difference? Hwyl, Bron.

Here's the original HearMe thread with Max's link.

Here's the link that Jon Freeman posted, but you can't use your browser while in HearMe

Here's the link to the thread with information on downloading Jon Freeman's lock button for HearMe, so you don't have to do bizarre things to hold the "talk" button down.

Just to clarify what Jeri said, if you use the link that I provided to hearme, if you want to do any browsing while using hearme, you need to start another copy of your browser.

Well, 'SPAW--it's easy to use, but I think I have a bum sound card. For instance, if you hook speakers up to the computer, you can barely hear anything. But if you wear headphones, it sounds fine. So, while some folks could not hear me--if it weren't for the headphones, I wouldn't have been able to hear them. My suggestion: everyone use headphones and see if you can hear me then! If not, I'm stuck in the text box.
