Any one seen or heard of a midi for this old classic?

I don't think 1976 makes it an old classic, and after listening I don't think it's a new classic either. Good luck finding a midi.

I found the recording on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wk-h4AmyZO0

but it's a copyrighted work, so I'm not putting it on my computer.

I can tell you that it's in the key of A, so the chords of A, E, D, and their 7ths are good bets. When it gets wistful, try an F#m. Time seems to be 4/4.

The first four notes are quarter notes, C# A C# A. That ought to get you started.

Funny thing about this song: it seems to hate the note G#. I quickly heard that C's and F's were sharp, and after that I needed to hear a G or G# to tell if it's in A or D. I finally heard one (G#) in a little swoop of the brass part in the accompaniment. Is that diagnostic? I'm not sure. The whole song could be in D. That changes your likely chords to D, G and A. Em for a change of mood.

If you have the sheet music notation or you could work out the notes of the tune by ear you could make your own MIDI file in a couple of different ways.

You could enter the notes into a music notation software programme and then save it as a MIDI file. I use NoteWorthy Composer . It's relatively cheap in price compared with some music notation software, but extremely useful and easy to use for a lot of practical uses.

Alternatively, you could write the music notation as
ABC Notation and then use an ABC to MIDI converter .

Hello, Helen. It's nice to meet another user of Noteworthy Composer. I was using that and a MIDI keyboard (aka MIDI controller) to get started on 'Morning Glory.'

Once a person has the musical knowledge to sound out a melody, s/he can do so much with a MIDI keyboard and a MIDI program - write music down, change the key, write harmony parts, compose original pieces, figure out chords. It adds so much to one's musical life.

Yes, leeneia, I've been using Noteworthy for just over 20 years. I'm very happy with it.

Wanted to check this track out for my own evaluation of it;
so just asked Alexa to play "Morning Glory" by James & Bobby Purify..

As unreliable as ever, the irritating AI played "Morning Glory" by The Wurzels..

.. could have been worse.. at least she didn't play Oasis...

How irritating! But thank goodness she didn't play anything by the Mangelwurzels.
