Joe asked me to put the name of the original version of "In Thee is Gladness" in the chat that Monday, but there was something wrong with my Chat and it wouldn't take typing.

The original version is called L'Innamorato,' and the composer was the Italian Giovanni Gastoldi, died 1622.

No, though it has pretty much the same tune as "Spanish Lady", Dublin City", etc. The ni Dhomnail sisters, whose name I always mis-spell, use my chorus only at the end of their "Spanish Lady".

Someone at the Somerville Armory when we were having pub sings inside there told me my song was supposed to have the last verse I used so I've used it ever since.

I know another song with much the same lyrics but sung to a variant of the "Willow Garden" tune.

Please use the titles I gave in my earlier post.

Thanks, Joan, I'll edit. Was this the song you sang? http://www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/folk-song-lyrics/Wheel_of_Fortune_or_Dublin_City.htm

I sang "Wheel of Fortune", could also be called "Sad Experience Teaches Me" in the 1st round but the line your helper gives as title *isn't* in the song.
