Subject: Traditions at the Tiger 30th Birthday From: Dave Sutherland Date: 07 Feb 21 - 06:32 AM While the upstairs room in Long Eaton’s Stumble Inn tonight will be cold, dark and empty; under normal circumstances it would be well populated with current members, old faces and hopefully some first timers all gathered together to celebrate the 30th birthday of Traditions at the Tiger/Tigerfolk. The club started by Roy Harris back in 1991 in order to present traditional music, songs and stories and when he moved from the area three years later he said that if we managed to run for ten years then we could fold our tents in the knowledge of a job well done. Sadly we cannot hold our anniversary night celebrating our latest milestone, raising a glass to absent friends and enjoying a guest(s) booked to reflect the importance of the occasion. Maybe we can do this for our 31st next year. |

Subject: RE: Traditions at the Tiger 30th Birthday From: Dave Sutherland Date: 07 Feb 21 - 03:54 PM The Tiger was our original venue from 1991 to 2011; it is a block of flats now. The original name of The Stumble Inn, just along the road from The Tiger was The Wheatsheaf. |
Subject: RE: Traditions at the Tiger 30th Birthday From: The Sandman Date: 08 Feb 21 - 05:29 AM I have never been to the club, although my repertoire is predominantly traditional. i thought Roy was a good performer a master of presentation and always very good at getting people to join in. I hope the club continues for many years.A bit far for me to do a floor spot |
Subject: RE: Traditions at the Tiger 30th Birthday From: JHW Date: 08 Feb 21 - 02:55 PM Roy was a treat. Didn't seem to have a set list, just decided and sang what he thought was best next, with little or mostly no intro. Happy 30th B'day TatT |
