Subject: A Pirate's Life for Me Midi From: Sandra Date: 10 Jan 00 - 04:32 PM Am making a pirate screen saver and can't find the midi for subject. I have a brief excerpt in a desktop theme - words to song are something like:
We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot, (something) Yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me. We kidnap, and ravage and don't give a hoot Yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me. Does anybody know where I can download this midi or what the name of the shanty it?? Thanks alot in advance. |
Subject: RE: A Pirate's Life for Me Midi From: Jacob Bloom Date: 10 Jan 00 - 05:01 PM It's not a shanty - it's the music that the Disney corporation uses for their theme ride "Pirates of the Caribbean", and it's undoubtedly owned by Disney. I was once stuck in a line waiting for breakfast, next to a gambling machine that played it. The same twelve bars, played over and over in electronic tones, on an empty stomach. I haven't been able to stand it since. |
Subject: RE: A Pirate's Life for Me Midi From: SeanM Date: 10 Jan 00 - 10:12 PM It is owned by Disney... and aggressively defended. My suggestion is to pick up one of Disney's many CDs with it on the disc. If the screensaver is for you, and not for distribution, it should qualify nicely as re-recording for strictly personal use. Don't mess with the Mouse. The little bastard's got some nasty teeth. M |

Subject: RE: A Pirate's Life for Me Midi From: SeanM Date: 11 Jan 00 - 01:52 AM When you get right down to it, it's probably safer to use Blow the Man Down, the Sailor's Hornpipe (Better known to most of the world as the Popeye theme), or most of a large amount of other sea shanties. M |
Subject: RE: A Pirate's Life for Me Midi From: Joe Offer Date: 11 Jan 00 - 06:31 PM I believe I found the MIDI of this song on the Internet quite easily in the past, but now it's nowhere to be found. Disney is tough about stuff like that. Heck, if I sang "Small World," I'd probably be shot (and probably should be shot). -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: A Pirate's Life for Me Midi From: Blackcat2 Date: 12 Jan 00 - 09:43 AM I have the lyrics at home (I'm at work) but not a midi. It is available on CD, I believe. I think I have it on one compilation of Disney music. You best bet would be to find the CD of Disney "Park" music - themes to the rides and such. It must be there. But look around - someone's got to have it in midi form (Disney is got to be the most pervasive intertainment company out there) And I don't just say that because I live in Orlando, FL. i actually work across the street from Sea World, and as I write I can see captive dolphins swimming in a holding tank in their back lot. Wish I could set them all free. pax yall |
