I posted this yesterday but it vanished. I think Mudcat had an outage so I guess it was technical.

Today being pancake day always reminds me so I may have posted this before but here goes

We used to chant a call/response on pancake Tuesday

Pancake Tuesday's a very happy day
If you don't give us a holiday we'll all run away

Where will you run to?

Down Folly Lane

I'll tell the teacher and you'll get the cane

Folly Lane is obviously local to me and ran from Swinton to Eccles, near Manchester. The route many used to take to the church at Eccles when it was the only one for miles but I dunno if that is significant.

I guess other areas used other localities and other songs so, anyone have any more?

And happy (or miserable) ash Wednesday to you all :-)

When I was at a camp in the mid-2000's there was some sort of nationalities-related food event, and each team representing a country and food had to come up with a song/skit to represent theirs. To this day, the only one that I remember was the group who got Belgium. Sung to the theme of "This is the Final Countdown" they just shouted "We are the Belgian Waffles" over and over again.

Not quite as fun of a diddy, but it's still in my head all these years later.
