There are many, many tributes to Bun in Gareth Westacott's facebook page. Gareth played fiddle with several groups, including Mabsant and and Wales-Galicia band Maelog, and he was Bun's lifelong friend from the age of 16.

Gareth said that Bun was battling cancer for over three years. He was a true legend who forged the Wales-Brittany musical partnership much more than the appalling Brexit disaster.

I just heard that Bun Walters, Merthyr-born landlord of Tavarn Ty Elise in the village of Plouye, Brittany, had died at 9am this morning. Bun played host to countless sessions, any many famous Breton (and Welsh) musicians drank and played there. Tavarn Ty Elise had a fabulous reputation for camaraderie and brilliant celtic music - and all the time, Bun would be behind the bar, dispensing enjoyment in a glass.

Bun told me he went to Brittany for a holiday, discovered Tavarn Ty Elise and never went back to his job. In the 1970s, Ty Elise was a very basic Breton bar; if you had to obey a call of nature, you went outside. The gents' pissoir was a corner of a wall, exposed to the open air. One night, drinkers were very angry and irate; someone had parked his bike on the wall, leaving them with no toilet!

Let us toast Bun's memory - especially Coreff...
