Pete Rimmer from the Bothy Folk Club Southport is compiling a history of the club and is trying to get a photo of everybody that has played there. He has one or two gaps to fill. Can anybody help with
Chris Birch and a band called Aunt Mary Moses and also The Pikemen all around in early 1970s. There is a band called the Pikemen (Irish) but its not them as they did not form till 1978.
you can contact Pete directly at Pete Rimmer

Les, that could be The Pikemen from Liverpool. Mick and Elaine Johnson, Micheal Coyne and Davy Brennan. I think they were going before 1978. I'll try and check with Elaine Bracken.

"Aunt Mary Moses" is mentioned in Hal-an-Tow. Is it possible they were Cornish? (Or maybe just liked the song . . .)

Hiya all and thanks for all the info. so far. Pete Rimmer has gotten a real flair for archiving during the current virus situation, and we've established that Aunt Mary Moses was a kinda hippy trio from the US, who were at Whitby Festival in 1972. My predecessor Tony Wilson would've been impressed and booked them to do the Club a few weeks later that autumn. I was at Whitby that year but blowed if I can recall them. Stateside catters - over to you.
Chris Birch - a Huyton lad and a terrific fiddler but wither now? I don't have any contact detail for Anthea.
