Subject: Folklore: RTE radio music From: GUEST,Jim Bainbridge Date: 18 Mar 21 - 06:26 AM I don't watch ANY TV but keep hearing good music on RTE radio from my fastness here in Galloway, so this thread can be used to let anyone know. Most Irish folk will know so bear with us!! Yesterday, St Patrick's Day, featured an excellent programme titled 'LONDON BROADWAYS' about Irish music in London from the fifties on. It was at 2pm on RTE1. Presented by people who knew what they were talking about & totally without the phoney Celtic twilight crap which infests a lot of such efforts. I knew the White Hart at Fulham Broadway very well- opposite the Chelsea FC turnstiles in the sixties & sorry to hear the site now houses an office block- I knew the Favourite was no more, but what a privilege to have heard Raymond Roland, Liam Farrell & Roger Sherlock on home ground- and it WAS home ground. Anyway, it's on the RTE archive- msaybe Peter Laban will do the link? |
