I don't know the title Steve

It starts:

One fine summers day a woman went walking
down by the river so gentle and free
and there she espied a beautiful sailor
sitting alone in the shade of a tree
She boldly went up to this young man
pray tell to me from whence you came
for my eyes have not feasted on such beauty
and may never do so again

Mudcat has once again come up trumps.

I have been searching for the words of a song I heard 40 years ago and finally after asking on Mudcat for about 20 years a guest has passed a the name of one of the performers to me via Joe Offer.

Hopefully I can now get the words. A huge Thank you to the Guest and to Joe.
