"Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor" and "Rock Island Line" got moderate airplay on the radio in the US in the 1960s. That's how I first heard of Lonnie Donegan.

And the recordings played in the US had it "chewing gum lose its flavor," not spearmint/flavour:

It came out on the "Dot" label in 1961 as "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor."

The Muppets also performed the song:
