Albert Fry, a great promoter of Irish language in Belfast, and recorded singer who collected songs of Rann na Feirste, County Donegal, has died, aged 80. He also was a structural engineer with a company, Albert Fry Associates, but that didnt get in the way of him performing.

there is a TG4 (television station) video in Irish shared on the page which is a much more complete tribute than the one I gave a link to earlier. there's also a quie impressive video of Albert teaching Irish. That's followed, via youtube, by a positive look at Irish medium education in Belfast (in Irish with English language subtitles) I think both videos are from 1990.

I missed this thread until it was brought to my attention by Felipa and Peter Laban. Do have a look at the links. They give a good picture of the man and his valuable work. I have added his name to the "In Memoriam" thread and, as ever, send my condolences to all those who know and love him.
