The Rev. Gundry, acted as host to the Hammond Brothers when they were collecting songs at Cerne. He was a singer himself. It was poor old Gundry who invented the tale for his Sunday school, that the Giant was in fact a tailor, and those were his scissors in his lap.
Must have been a little difficult preaching Victorian values of sexual restraint with a 24 foot long nadger staring down at him from the local hill. I've still got back ache from all that measuring! (The Giant I mean =).
