Subject: Chord Req: Martin Carthy 'Young Andrew' tab/chords?

Hello, I'm curious if anyone here has any insights on what Martin's playing on "Death of Young Andrew" from Because It's There. Any help appreciated - tuning, tablature, chords, or guesses at any of these!

You're not being ignored, GUEST ER. I've done some digging and have come up empty. The only suggestion I have to make is to see if Chordify would help with this at all. If I knew how to use Chordify I'd try it out, but alas . . .

There are a few folks around Mudcat who may be able to at least get you started. I'll search further, but don't hold your breath.

Maybe fifteen years ago at the Mystic Seaport's Sea Musical Festival, I asked Martin if he would play Death of Young Andrew sometime over the weekend. He said that he had dropped the song from his public repertoire sometime earlier and felt that it was a bit over the top with the startling death description of the daughter/sister.
Personally, I think that it is one, if not THE number one most compelling arrangement & execution of Carthy's guitar and voice.
A similar striking tale can be found in Stan Roger's Harris and the Mare.

the whole point of his style of guitar acc is to get away from conventional chords, here is a quote from his guitar book , he plays the tune preferably using all the guitar neck then you have to find the apprpriate bass notes using the thumb which will fit without causing undue difficulty. it is the song that is important and the entire perfomance of the song rather than a fancy bit of guitar work
