6 June 1944 BBC Record Chart - The music that helped boost British morale Throughout the war, BBC radio became our constant companion for not only did it relay news to and about our brave boys fighting on the war torn battle fields of Europe it brought us the best songs and recording artist's of the day, right into our living rooms. Vera Lynn, Bing Crosby, Adelaide Hall, Glen Miller, Judy Garland and the countless dance bands became our constant companions during the long, dark gloomy nights of incessant bombings. Their songs lived on in our hearts long after the sound of exploding bombs had faded into the distance.

My parents had a mono Vera Lynn LP, a black & white image showing her in uniform singing to the troops. She made lots of records, but I can't see the cover, it might have been a special Australian cover or pressing.
