Seinnibh le othail e
O horo èileadh;
Seinnibh le othail e
O horo èileadh;
Fàillirinn ìllirinn
Hù horo èileadh
B' e m' aighear, 's mo shùgradh
'S mo dhùrachd bhith rèidh ribh.

'S a' mhaduinn mhoich, chùbhraidh
Bu shùgradh leam m' èirigh;
Bha litir gu m' ionnsaidh,
'S le sùnnd rinn mi leughadh,
Ag innseadh gu diùlaidh;
'S bu shùgradh leam fhèin e,
G' eil òigridh mo dhùthcha
A' dùsgadh gun èislein.

Commun na beannachd
Tha 'n Glaschu còmhnaidh,
Uibhistich is Barraich,
Gach caileag is òigear;
Cumaibh gu dìleas
Nur cuimhne ri 'r beò iad,
Eileanan rìomhach,
Is prìseil bhur n-òige.

Bu bhòidheach an sealladh
Sa mhaduinn mhoich, chèitein,
An fhairge mar gloinne,
Gun smal air na speuran,
Raointean, is gleannan,
Is beannan glas', geugach
Uibhist is Bharraigh
Ag amharc a chèile.

An fhairge ri altramas
Caisteal a' Bhàigh dhaibh;
Ormacleit ghlacach
Toirt eachdraidh Chloinn Ràghaill;
Baile nan Cailleach
Is machraichean Bhàllaidh,
'S càit' eil nas bòidhche
Na leòidean Creag Àsdainn?

Na h-Eileanaich ainmeil
An seanachas 's am bàrdachd;
'S minig a dhearbh iad
Bhi garg air chùl stàillinn;
Bu ghleusda, neo-chearbach
Air fairge no tràigh iad;
'S gur h-eutrom, grinn, dealbhach
Air garbhlach no sràid iad.

Bha daoine bhon d' thàinig sibh
Làidir sa chòmhraig,
'S cinn-chinnidh neo-sgàthach
'S na blàraibh gan seòladh,
Tighearna Chlann Ràghaill
Is àrmainn Chlann Dòmhnaill,
'S Mac Nèill nan long luatha
Gu cuantan a shròiceadh!

Gun èireadh mo nàdar
Le bàidh agus pròis leam
Nuair chithinn an làrach
'S 'n do dh'àraicheadh "Flòraidh";
Bidh cuimhne gu bràth
Air gnìomh gàbhaidh na h-òigh sin,
Mar shàbhail i Teàrlach
Bhon ghràisg a bha 'n tòir air!

Nuair chruinnicheas an còmhlan ud
Còmhla gu sùnndach,
Na maighdeannan bòidheach
'S na h-òigeirean lùthar;
Bidh pìob nan dos àrda
La gàirich à siùnnsair
Cur Eileanaich ghreannmhor
Nan deann air an ùrlar!

Commun mo rùin nach
Cuir cùl ris a' Ghàidhlig,
Labhradh air tùs i, gu
Ciùn, anns a' Ghàradh,
Cànain ro chlùiteach a
Dh' ionnsaicheadh tràth dhaibh,
Gu h-aoidheil, binn, mùirneil,
Aig glùinean am màthar.

Thoir uamsa ceud soraidh
Gu banal mo shùgraidh.
'S gun cruinneacheadh geanail
Am baile na h-ùpraid;
Gach nì bhi mar 's math leibh,
'S mo bheannachd dar n-ionnsaidh,
Gach Uibhisteach 's Barrach
Tha fada bho 'n duthaich!

A song by Bard Iollaraigh, Roderick MacKay, North Uist (1872-1949 to young people who leave the islands of Uist and Barra, urging them not to forget where they were raised nor their Gaelic language *Kathleen MacInnes Cille Bhride cd insert*

Sing it with excitement
O horo èileadh;
Sing it with excitement
O horo èileadh;
Fàillirinn ìllirinn
Hù horo èileadh I was merry
, my joy
And my wish to be at peace with you.

In the early, fragrant morning
I would rejoice to rise;
There was a letter to me,
And I read it
with enthusiasm , Telling retiringly;
And it was fun for me,
That the youth of my country
Are waking up without sorrow.

Communion of blessings
Glasgow resides,
Uist and Barra,
All girls and young men;
Keep them faithful
In your memory while they live,
Beautiful islands,
Precious is your youth.

The view was beautiful
In the early morning of May,
The sea like glass,
Without a stain on the skies,
Plains and glens, And the
gray, branchy mountains of
Uist and Barra
Looking at each other.

The sea in the care
of Bay Castle for them;
Captured Ormaclete
Giving the history of Clanranald;
Nunton And the
machair of Vallay,
And where is more beautiful
Than the slopes of Craig Assynt?

The famous Islanders
The storytelling and the poetry;
They have often proved To be
fierce behind steel;
They were skilful, rebellious
On sea or beach;
And that they are light, graceful, picturesque
On a ridge or a street.

People from your ye
Strong prowess,
I chiefs non-Sgàthach
And the battle sail them,
Lord Ràghaill Clan
Is warriors MacDonald,
I MacNeil fast the ship
To shròiceadh oceans!

May my nature rise
With kindness and pride
When I see the site
And "Flora" was reared;
The
dangerous deed of that maiden will always be remembered ,
How she saved Charles
From the grace that pursued him!

When that band gathers
Together cheerfully,
The beautiful maidens
And the vigorous youths;
The pipes of the high
drones Will laugh from the chanter
Putting funny Islanders
On the floor!

Commun mo rùin nach
The Gaelic language, Speak it
at
first, Quietly, in the Garden,
Languages ??too glorious
To be taught early to them
, Hospitable, sweet, joyful,
At their mother's knees.

Take from me a hundred farewells
To the banality of my sweetness.
And let the breeze gather
In the city of tumult;
All be well with you,
And my blessing to us,
All Uist and Barra
Far from the country!

the first four verses sung by Norman MacLean are the same as given above. And then he sings the last verse.

(blue clicky brings you to youtube. Unfortunately for me, I don't enjoy the accompaniment on that recording)
