Subject: An Evening with John Conolly-Jun 17 From: Joe Offer Date: 15 Jun 21 - 06:33 PM An Evening with John Conolly June 17th, 2021. 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm UTC+1 (2:30 pm US east coast; 11:30 am US west coast). Streamed live from Falcon Audio Visual Arts Studio, Whitby, UK http://www.youtube.com/user/Tulip0852/live John Conolly, the Man from Fiddlers’ Green, honed his songwriting around the fish docks of Grimsby, a once bustling fishing port perched at the mouth of England’s Humber River. As he watched the fishing fleet limp into oblivion with the demise of a once-thriving industry, he began to chronicle the stories of the men who worked on the boats and along the docks. Fiddlers’ Green, which he wrote in 1964, has become firmly entrenched in the canon of maritime music, along with a number of his other songs: Punch and Judy Man, Trawling Trade, Men of the Sea (with Bill Meek), The Widowmaker—the list is long. Conolly performs with warmth, good humour and lilting accompaniment on guitar and melodeon. The show will run approximately 50 minutes. Like other Falcon events the concert is free, but we're suggesting a donation (£10–$15) to the tip jar. Let us know if you’d like to receive a timely reminder on the day of the concert (janiemeneely@gmail.com)—we’ll add you to the Falcon House Concert “tickle” list, and you’ll get a direct email with the link.
