Subject: Lyrics request: More Than A Big Sombrero From: GUEST,Debbie C. Date: 19 Jun 21 - 06:38 PM I'm looking for the lyrics to a 1964 song by Johnny Mac, recorded in Australia and composed by Peter Hiscock. The only lines I know are from the chorus: Takes more than a big sombrero, takes more than a fancy hat To change a city slicker boy into a country cat Many thanks for any information. |

Subject: RE: Lyrics request: More Than A Big Sombrero From: GUEST,# Date: 19 Jun 21 - 07:21 PM The song entitled "It Takes More than a Big Sombrero" was the B-side to the 45 rpm release of "Pink Champagne and a Room of Roses" in 1964. I've not located lyrics or a video of the song. |

Perhaps someone out there has the record and could supply some info. Sorry I can't be of more help. |

Subject: RE: Lyrics request: More Than A Big Sombrero From: GUEST,Phil d'Conch Date: 19 Jun 21 - 08:11 PM There was an American square dance titled Big Sombrero that came out at almost the same time and had the same word-for-word first chorus and only slightly different second. Can't be a coincidence. 'Composer' was Beryl Main. Instrumental side sample here: Wagon Wheel 304 WW304 call sheet on Discogs (scroll down.) |
