Several years ago Charles Vess, an illustrator, did a series of comics call The Book of Ballads and Sagas. I found them to be brilliant on several levels. They didn't white wash the more dark and brutal aspects of the fairy tales but they gave complete stories in an accessible format. The illustrations were pen and ink line drawings and the calligraphy was readable.

Tom Hiddleston is a good singer and stared in The Hank Williams biopic 'I Saw the Light'. Not bad for a London lad! :-)
