Subject: Music in the Berkshires Fourth of July From: keberoxu Date: 03 Jul 21 - 02:26 PM The bad news: James Taylor was scheduled to play Tanglewood. Postponed until 2022. The good news: The Boston Pops Orchestra, who before the coronavirus pandemic would spend the Fourth of July, for nearly one hundred years, Live from the Esplanade by the Charles River in Boston giving their annual patriotic concert, will ... give the concert, not in Boston, but at Tanglewood in Berkshire County this Fourth of July. No fireworks at Tanglewood, though. In keeping with all the post-pandemic adjustments, the various Fourth of July events will be broken up into several moving parts. Tanglewood: Mavis Staples, bless her, will be the Boston Pops Orchestra's special guest, with conductor Keith Lockhart. The Army and the Air Force will assist the Boston Pops in the persons of the Six-String Soldiers of the U S Army Field Band and the Singing Sergeants of the US Air Force Band. No firewords, again, at Tanglewood. The Tanglewood concert will be streamed / televised. And the fireworks show will be held, not at the Esplanade, but on the Boston Common, after dark: no audio or video of the concert on the Common before the fireworks. |
