There used to be a somewhat notorious sewage outfall that threatened the beach, but I assume that's been fixed. It's 30 years since I went, though I can be there in 45 minutes. But I have Bude... |

On the coast of North Devon near Bideford town. Spent many a day there as a child, sitting on the pebble ridge which runs the length of the beach and stops the resort being flooded. Great beach for swimming. |

From: keberoxu Date: 29 Jul 21 - 10:55 PM I'm a little confused here: was the thread title meant to be 'about Westward Ho!' and it came out 'Ha!' instead?? There is a USA connection to the Ha variation of the phrase. Humo[u]rist S. J. Perelman collaborated with the famous cartoonist Al Hirschfeld on a book titled: Westward Ha! or, Around the World in Eighty Clichés. I haven't looked at it yet. |
