Subject: Obit: Rich Galloway - Sept 1, 2021 From: Joe Offer Date: 03 Sep 21 - 01:56 AM I got word yesterday from Portland (OR) and San Francisco that Rich Galloway died of cancer on Wednesday, Sept 1, 2021. I swear I've met Rich in person somewhere, but I got to know him quite well through all the Zoom singing sessions I've attended in the last 18 months. Rich was the tech guru for the FSGW Getaway in the Fall of 2020, and I've worked under him at a number of Zoom gatherings. Always generous and patient, very knowledgeable, and a good singer. And a good guy all around. May he rest in peace. -Joe- |

As Joe wrote, Rich appeared to be very knowledgeable. I had heard he was ill, but of course one always hopes people will stick around for longer. condolences to all Rich's friends and family. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Rich Galloway - Sept 1, 2021 From: Bill D Date: 03 Sep 21 - 11:06 AM Joe.. he was at several Getaways in the last few years. He & I bid on the beer that Edmund & Charmion brought from Canada... then we'd trade some. He was a good guy, a tech guru and had an amazing store of songs. He was also a dance caller for many years. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Rich Galloway - Sept 1, 2021 From: MoorleyMan Date: 05 Sep 21 - 07:46 PM Sad news indeed, I only knew Rich this past year or so thru the various US festivals on zoom. He was truly one of the Good Guys, and a tech maestro - and one of the most positive and genuinely encouraging of the folks I've had the privilege of meeting and working with over the zoom-waves. He introduced me to several of my new singing friends across the pond. Thankyou Rich, for everything, and may you rest in peace. And condolences to his family and many friends. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Rich Galloway - Sept 1, 2021 From: GUEST Date: 06 Sep 21 - 03:54 PM Rich was the kind of guy who would lend a hand whenever there was a need to help a friend, and so appreciative of and always listening to the music around him, retaining folksongs he learned in childhood from his neighborhood, and constantly adding to his repertoire and honing his craft under Lisa Null’s vocal mentorship. He clearly took music seriously, and sang expressively. I know he had been working on a collection of songs featuring bare-knuckle boxing, and interesting interest for such a gentle man, but one’s muse leads where it will. He will be missed by so many. -Heather |
