An exciting find amongst Brenda Wootton's old LP album collection will be going on Ebay next week, November 8th. The Strawbs often came down to Pipers Folk Club, and stayed with us. Lovely band, great guys, great music. This LP - Strawberry Sampler No 1, was produced in 1969, and only 99 copies were printed...

"The record includes previously un-released out-takes from the abandoned first album 'Strawbs'... Strawberry Music Sampler No.1 has become one of the UK's most collectable vinyl records, and is one of the rarest in Britain" Only 7 copies are known to exist, I believe. That might be fine for collectors of probably overpriced rare albums. For those who just would like to have the music, the 2001 CD reissue is offered on Discogs for less than 10£.

I agree with you about these overpriced rare albums!
I mean, who has the money to spend enormous amounts of money on these albums? What kind of income and jobs do they have to be able to spend so much money on a record?

Thank you for the information about being able to buy it from Discogs for less then 10 pounds! Just wondering though, do you know if I could buy it in USA?

Look it up yourself: Go to disocgs.com, search for Strawbs Sampler, then click on Marketplace: For Sale. Currently there are 13 offers for this CD; two of them are from the USA. One of these is the pink 2001 CD reissue from Witchwood Records (record label of The Strawbs themselves), and one the beige Japanese reissue from 2013.

I remember The Strawberry Hill Boys, when they played Bluegrass :)
