The Skara Brae album featuring siblings Micheál Ó Domhnaill, Maighréad and Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill, along with their friend Daithi Sproule was issued 50 years ago. The young musicians sang tradtional Irish language songs in harmony with modern guitar and harpsichord accompaniament.

This morning 11.00-12, RTE Raidió na Gaeltachta had a programme celebrating the album. Maighread, Tríona and Daithí were in discussion with the presenter of "Barrscéalta". A representative of the record company, Gael Linn spoke. There were a few short recorded messages from other musicians (Máiréad Ní Mhaonaigh, Máire Ní Bhraonáin, Neil Martin) and archive recordings including an interview with Michéal Ó Domhnaill and a song from Néilí Ní Dhomhnaill.

Note There is far more talk than music/singing on this programme and it is entirely in Irish Gaelic language.

Ah, thanks for that. What a lovely record it is. I'll give the programme a listen later...

I love this album and listen to it quite a lot. However, without wanting to dwell on the subject too much - does anyone else feel that the guitars on this album are a little out of tune? I've always wondered whether it was just my ear being picky or whether others hear the same thing.
