Subject: Lyr Add: Any old wind that blows From: Stewie Date: 01 Jan 22 - 09:19 PM I recently bought a new turntable and, for the first time in over almost 40 years, I have a been revisiting my vinyl collection. Among others, I have been listening to the trio of 1970s albums by Dick Feller. He wrote some wonderful songs such as 'Cry for Lori', 'The sum of Marcie's blues', 'Daisy Hill', 'Lord Mr Ford', 'Credit card song', 'Let it ride' etc. He also penned some novelty pieces such as 'Biff, the purple bear' for which he acquired some brief fame. In 2014, Feller published an autobiography, 'Some days are diamonds', in which he came out publicly as a trans woman and adopted the name Deena Kaye Rose. I posted the lyrics to my favourite Feller song, 'Any old wind that blows', back in 2004 but it was buried in a thread about a Jim Ringer song. Johnny Cash had a No 1 country hit with his cover of the song. However, I reckon Feller's original recording on 'Dick Feller Wrote' remains the best. ANY OLD WIND THAT BLOWS (Dick Feller0 Lord she's restless Like cotton candy clouds that sail the day Slow and free ... and she possesses A mind that can't resign itself to stay For long with me Though I've tried and tried to keep her tied and satisfied Until she really needs me But when that certain look comes on her face I can't replace it And she leaves me Chorus: She's a butterfly in mid July Who just can't wait to try Her brand new wings On brand new things And she needs no rhyme or reason when she goes Her mind is on what lies beyond that wall of blue horizon I suppose And heaven knows She'll go sailin' off on any old wind that blows I know she needs me About as much as I need someone else Which I don't ... And if need be I swear some day I'll up and leave myself ... which I won't But even If she loved another man I'd understand it more than I do But I know the only reason that she ever has for leavin' is she wants to Chorus She'll go sailin' off on any old wind that blows Dick Feller Johnny Cash There's also a YT clip of a rendition by our Mudcat host who mistakenly attributed it to Cash.
