Subject: BS: Happy Mayday! From: Senoufou Date: 01 May 22 - 06:04 AM I've just turned the page in my calendar to May. Three months since my husband left, and have had no contact since then. Good news is that earlier this morning we've had a tiny few drops of rain after many weeks of drought, but it might have waited until after the Bank Holiday! Mr & Mrs Duckie are on my front lawn at the moment (They've gobbled up some bread I put there for them) and the red kite (which used to be quite a rare bird, is hovering over the village doing his 'kwee kwee' call. I'm finding these signs of early summer quite uplifting in my sorrow. May is always a beautiful month. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Mayday! From: Jon Freeman Date: 01 May 22 - 06:24 AM Now is the month of Maying... I'm not sure about May always being beautiful. If my memory is right, I was cursing it last year with it being cold and wet and me wondering when I could safely move some veg plants from the house. Still, I think the outlook so far for both of us in our parts of Norfolk is looking good this year. |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Mayday! From: Steve Shaw Date: 01 May 22 - 10:08 AM It's the Padstow Obby Oss festival tomorrow, put off for a day because May Day is on Sunday this year. It's about 25 miles down the road from us. Just as well, as today has been a washout so far! Good weather in much of April, now this! |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Mayday! From: Mrrzy Date: 01 May 22 - 01:45 PM Bon courage, Sen, et qu'il aille se faire foutre ailleurs. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Mayday! From: Senoufou Date: 01 May 22 - 02:29 PM Merci bcp Mrrzy!
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Mayday! From: keberoxu Date: 01 May 22 - 05:53 PM . . . absolument, Rapparee! Delighted to have a chance to wish Senoufou a happy first day of May and to say that she is thought of, and loved. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Mayday! From: Helen Date: 01 May 22 - 06:04 PM Oh, Senoufou, I'm so sorry to hear that news. Please look after yourself, and look to a brighter future, even if it seems to be out of reach at the moment. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Mayday! From: Senoufou Date: 02 May 22 - 03:36 AM Thank you all so much for your kind words! I'm very lucky to be living in this rural village - people here have a great sense of community, and I can chat to all my neighbours as they trot past with their numerous dogs! I'm awaiting the return of the house martins any day soon. And I might hear the cuckoo calling from the nearby woods. There are several May events at the village hall too. I keep humming in my head those ancient May songs ('Sumer is icumin in' 'Now is the month of maying', 'Now the green blade riseth' and so on) I don't wish my disappeared husband ill - I hope he's alright in his bedsit in our nearest town. At least I taught him to speak English, and our various systems of Tax etc., so he's well-equipped to survive. (If he has a new lady, I hope she speaks a bit of French!) By Divorce Law though, he might be entitled to half my house and property, and I may have to move out to live in a tiny flat. Oh dear ...! |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Mayday! From: Helen Date: 02 May 22 - 05:24 AM Senoufou, back in the mid '80's I experienced that particular fear of having to share my assets, but luckily the ex-partner could not have tried to stake a claim without bringing unwanted attention to his own situation. It's a long story. I wished I had never met him and took years to recover and put the past behind me, but I am hoping you do have some good times to remember with your husband. For me, life took a much better turn and I could see much more clearly. That's why I love the song I Can See Clearly Now. It was my psychological beacon when I started to turn my life around. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Mayday! From: Senoufou Date: 02 May 22 - 08:19 AM I'm so glad you have been able to put that behind you Helen. I too like that song, and also Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive'. I've been enjoying the company of Mr & Mrs Quackie, the mallard ducks, this morning. They seem very devoted to each other. And I managed to mow the lawn (slowly!). |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Mayday! From: Helen Date: 08 May 22 - 04:16 PM Senoufou, I sent you a couple of PM's. I have a digital image of a couple of lovely Australian ducks to send you. I think they will make you smile. |
