Andy Irvine was in fine form at Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room last night, performing songs from throughout his career. His tour continues;

Mon 16.Black Swan Folk Club @ the Crescent Club, York
Tue 17.        St David's Hall, Cardiff
Wed 18.        Exeter Phoenix, Exeter
Thu 19. The Fleece Inn, Bretforton
Fri 20.        Valley Folk Club @ Glais Rugby Football Club, Swansea
Sat 21.        Saturday Folk Club @ Elephant & Castle, Lewes, East Sussex

He will mark his 80th birthday with a show at Vicar Street Dublin on Monday, June 20th this year.

"10 years ago I played two gigs there for my 70th birthday with a couple of bands,” Irvine added. “Sweeney’s Man, Mosaik, and LAPD with Paddy Glackin and Liam O’Flynn. That gig was a great success. We put it together on a CD and on a DVD, and I don’t see why I shouldn’t do it again for my 80th. Then I’d be looking forward to my 90th!”

Then in November, Andy Irvine and Paul Brady will be touring (with Donal Lunny and Kevin Burke) to celebrate their classic album of 1977.

Thu Nov 17. Royal Theatre, Castlebar
Sat Nov 19. Perth Concert Hall, Perth
Sun Nov 20. Waterfront Hall, Belfast
Mon Nov 21. Vicar St, Dublin
Tue Nov 22. Vicar St, Dublin

Will he never tire of the road? The album has been remastered and released on CD and purple vinyl. And during lockdown Andy has recorded an album of songs by his great hero Woody Guthrie, which will be released in due course.
