Subject: Any Mudcats in Southern California From: GUEST,Lin Date: 09 Jun 22 - 09:32 AM I was wondering if there are any Mudcats out there who live in Southern, California,(near the Inland Empire or San Gabriel Valley areas.) I thought it would be fun to get together with others in my area who would enjoy going to some folk/acoustic venues. Or to even just meet for coffee and meet a new friend with same interest and talk/listen to some good folk music. I don't have any friends who are into folk music at all like I am and just thought it would be fun to meet others with the same interest. I don't have a car at this time so it is hard to even go to folk music venues anymore. Most venues are at night and bus service is not too good to get anywhere after 7 or 8 pm. Of course during the day would be ok to take a bus to meet others for coffee or lunch and just enjoy talking in person with other people about our common interest in folk music, play guitar at a park perhaps. Bus service during the daytime is fine, just not at night. Taxis, Uber, etc. too expensive in my area, for me anyway, so not really an option. So just thought I would post this unusual message in the event it would be of interest to others who live in my area. |

Subject: RE: Any Mudcats in Southern California From: Joe Offer Date: 10 Jun 22 - 09:42 PM Hi, Lin - the people at http://songmakers.org/ may be able to lead you in the right direction. They're far west of you in Simi Valley and the like, but they may know the lay of the land in the Inland Empire. I've always had trouble finding singing opportunities in Southern California. Seems like I always find them after I've gotten back home to Northern California. -Joe- |

Subject: RE: Any Mudcats in Southern California From: GUEST,Lin Date: 10 Jun 22 - 10:52 PM Thanks Joe for the information. You are right about so few places for folk in Southern California. I know I will sometimes see folk artists (not really well known for the most part), will tour in USA and will play at various venues, house concerts, non-denominational churches, some cafes too, in Northern California but rarely get down to play in Southern California. Maybe on a rare occasion in San Diego but that is not near me either. |
