CRÓ CHINN T-SÁILE

Thèid mi dhachaigh, hó ró dhachaigh
Thèid mi dhachaigh Chrò Chinn t-Sàile.
Thèid mi dhachaigh, hó ró dhachaigh
Thèid mi dhachaigh Chrò Chinn t-Sàile.

[ 1 ]
Thèid mi leam fhìn ann, leam fhìn ann, leam fhìn ann,
Thèid mi leam fhìn ann, gun dàil ann.
Thèid mi leam fhìn ann, leam fhìn ann, leam fhìn ann,
Thèid mi dhachaigh Chrò Chinn t-Sàile.

[ 2 ]
Dhachaigh thu, dhachaigh thu, dhachaigh thu, dhachaigh thu,
Dhachaigh thu, dhachaigh thu, dha do thaigh Gheamraidh.
Dhachaigh thu, dhachaigh thu, dhachaigh thu, dhachaigh thu,
Dha do thaigh Earraich 's dha do thaigh Samhraidh.

[ 3 ]
Thèid mi nam shìneadh, nam shìneadh, nam shìneadh,
Thèid mi nam shìneadh, gun dàil ann.
Thèid mi nam shìneadh, nam shìneadh, nam shìneadh,
Thèid mi dhachaigh Chrò Chinn t-Sàile.

[ Seist = chorus ]
Thèid mi dhachaigh, hó ró dhachaigh
Thèid mi dhachaigh Chrò Chinn t-Sàile.
Thèid mi dhachaigh, hó ró dhachaigh
Thèid mi dhachaigh Chrò Chinn t-Sàile.

Thèid mi dhachaidh hò-rò dhachaidh
Thèid mi dhachaidh chrò Chinn t-Sàile
Thèid mi dhachaidh dìreach dhachaidh
'S gabhaidh mi rathad mòr Chinn t-Sàile

according to tradition, this song was composed by a soldier who was wounded at the battle of Sheriffmuir in 1715, who was afraid he would never return home to Kintail. This is the version sung by Alan MacDonald & Margaret Stewart on the album "Fhuair Mi Pog". (http://www.celticartscenter.com/Songs/Scottish/CroChinntSaile.html)

Translation:
I will go home, ho ro home,
I will go home, to the cattle fold of Kintail
I will go home, ho ro home,
I will go home, to the cattle fold of Kintail

1]
I will go myself there, myself there, myself there, myself there,
I will go myself there without delay.
I will go myself there, myself there, myself there, myself there,
I will go home to the cattle fold of Kintail.
2]
Homeward you, homeward you, homeward you, homeward you,
Homeward you, homeward you to your winter house.
Homeward you, homeward you, homeward you, homeward you,
Homeward you to your spring house and to your summer house.
3]
I will be laid out, laid out, laid out, laid out,
I will be laid out there without delay.
I will laid out, laid out, laid out, laid out,

4] I will go home, ho-ro, home
I will go home to the cattle fold of Kintail
I will go home, directly home
I will take the main Kintail road.

Some more verses from a recording by Talitha MacKenzie and Alasdair Macleod:

Bi mi nochd am buaile Phearsain
Bi mi 'n a chuid mhart am màireach
Bi mi nochd am buaile Phearsain
Bi mi 'n a chuid mhart am màireach         T

Théid mi dh'Uraigh bhuain a' mhurain
Théid mi dh'Uraigh leat a ghràidh
Théid mi dh'Uraigh bhuain a' mhurain
Théid mi dh'Uraigh leat a ghràidh

translation
Tonight I'll be in the parson's cattlefold
Tomorrow I'll be with the cattle headed for the slaughter
Tonight I'll be in the parson's cattlefold
Tomorrow I'll be with the cattle headed for the slaughter

I will go to Urray to reap the sea-bent
I will go to Urray with you, my love
I will go to Urray to reap the sea-bent
I will go to Urray with you, my love
