Well done! That's a good rendition. I enjoyed listening, and as he passed by, the DH did a few dance steps, so he liked it too.

Leeneia, I tried to keep fairly close to the harmony and tune that Dory Previn wrote, but I did take some liberties with the chords and tune. This was a for weekly uke challenge that I take part in and this week it was to sing a song with your birth month mentioned in it. Here's what I came up with: Melancholy March ukulele challenge

That's a challenging tune, PHJim. The first six notes are chromatic - no chord there. So far, if I put it in 4/4 to accommodate the beginning, subsequent chord changes come at odd places. In short, this is jazz - careful jazz with a composed accompaniment.

How would you feel about keeping the words and composing a new tune?

Not the chords, but I always think it's useful to post the lyrics, too. Maybe with the lyrics and recording, somebody can work out chords for you.
