I loved their music so much, and it was such a part of my life - and it was her voice that carried that music. I hope it was a good life for her, and that she realized what her music did for so many of us. -Joe- |

Subject: RE: Obit: Judith Durham, The Seekers (1943-2022) From: Johnny J Date: 06 Aug 22 - 04:47 AM Really sad news. The "old" Seekers were great. I saw them do a revival tour and Judith signed my CD (I've never grown up). She was a lovely down to earth person and very friendly indeed. As everyone else has commented, a beautiful voice. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Judith Durham, The Seekers (1943-2022) From: GUEST Date: 06 Aug 22 - 06:53 AM I just loved her voice. Saw her live a good few years ago. Sang well however, I was disappointed that she only sang one Seekers number. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Judith Durham, The Seekers (1943-2022) From: Tattie Bogle Date: 06 Aug 22 - 07:18 AM Sorry to hear that. One of my flatmates back in the 60s had one of the Seekers’ LPs so we all sang along to Judith’s voice until we wore the record out. In the band I play in now, we have a “Seekers Set” which goes down well for those singalong gigs in day centres, care homes, etc. |

As everyone has said, brilliant voice and talent (plus a friendly and down-to-earth Aussie) :) Vale, Judith. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Judith Durham, The Seekers (1943-2022) From: Steve Shaw Date: 07 Aug 22 - 08:39 PM Well last night, in this lovely spell of weather that we are unaccustomed to, Mrs Steve and I, along with our best friend Celia, retired after our barbecue into the "festival tent" in our garden (It's actually a pop-up gazebo, complete with sides, that we bought from Argos years ago. It goes up every August, pinned down at each of its four legs with Tom Chambers bird table anchors against the Cornish breezes...) I set up my pair of UE Boom speakers for stereo, fired up Spotify on my phone, cracked open a bottle too many of a lovely red, and we spent many a long, tearful hour listening (and singing along tunelessly) to the Seekers' greatest hits (of which there are many). I don't need to name all those wonderful songs. But I decided that Morningtown Ride was my very favourite and that I'm having The Carnival Is Over at my funeral. Or at Mrs Steve's. I wouldn't dare to predict which of us might come first, in case she reads this thread... I loved the Beatles most in the sixties, but the Seekers were always there too. Judith had a lovely voice and she was lovely woman. Hey, I'm filling up here... |

And like Judith Durham and Archie Roach, caring for the rest of humanity was an integral part of all of their lives with their work for social, artistic or medical foundations. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Judith Durham, The Seekers (1943-2022) From: Waddon Pete Date: 09 Aug 22 - 09:54 AM Like many others, Judith was a part of my musical listening back in those early days. Lovely voice that never failed to lift the spirits. I have added her name to the "In Memoriam" thread and, as always, send my condolences to all those who love and miss her. RIP |

Subject: RE: Obit: Judith Durham, The Seekers (1943-2022) From: GUEST,Lin Date: 13 Aug 22 - 05:23 PM I was very saddened to hear of Judith's passing. I knew from various report's that she had been ill in recent years with different health issues. I absolutely loved her singing. What a gorgeous voice. There are so many folk artists who I listen to and big fans of. I never knew any well known artists personally. Just like most people,I'm big fans of many, many folk singers and groups. I used to think, well if you had a chance to meet one singer in person, who do you actually feel you would feel comfortable talking to, not feel nervous or tongue-tied. So despite the many folk artists I love, have their albums, etc., Judith Durham just always struck me as someone who I would feel comfortable talking to and not intimated by, even though she is very famous. Just someone who came across as very down-to-earth and sweet and friendly. Not full of herself at all. Rest in Peace, Judith Durham |
